Mrs. Brenda Joyce Reid

REID, Mrs. Brenda Joyce - Age 63, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Luke Baptist Church, 821 E. Court St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Orlando C. Goodman, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Stewart will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 Noon - 8:00 PM Friday. Brenda Joyce Reid was born January 31, 1956 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Jasper and Bulah Reid. She was the first born of 9 children. Brenda graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1975.” She retired from General Motors Corporation after raising 9 children. Brenda enjoyed shopping, traveling, cooking and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. She found her most pleasure in dining out, she loved to eat. Brenda also loved to cook for her children and grandchildren, she would feed them, talk their ears off then put them out. “Ok, y'all can go home now” she would say. And they never left empty handed, she always had a bag for her children when they were leaving. Mostly groceries, she would feed anyone. Brenda was known for her diva style, long nails, stiletto heels, designer bags and jewelry. Brenda Joyce Reid leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters and 5 sons, Bobby Coleman Jr., Princess Coleman, Sparkle Goodman, Krystal (Reggie) Owens, Alonzo Goodman Jr., Edward Evans III (Merrisa), Diamond Evans and Adrian Evans, all of Flint; grandchildren, Andrénaya Abron, Romarro Coleman, Aalliyah Evans, Amaria Evans, Kristina Owens and Jace Evans; 2 sisters, Dequinda (Tyrone) Payne and Linda Bradley; 6 brothers, Jasper (Margie) Reid Jr., Donald Reid, Gregory Reid, all of Flint, Michael (Trena) Reid of Detroit, MI, Keith Reid and Terry Reid, both of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Marilyn Goodman; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Alonzo Goodman Sr., Kim Richardson, Uyonka Rushing, Pastor McDade, Erma Adekunle and Linda Haymon. Brenda was preceded in death by her son, Yontei Coleman; parents, Jasper and Bulah Reid. The family would like to express special thanks to the Goodman family, St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church family and Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
