Mr. Bradley James Whitaker

WHITAKER, Mr. Bradley James - Age 69, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor James Kennedy officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Whitaker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 11 a.m. -8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Bradley James Whitaker was born February 4, 1944 in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of Earnest and Margaret Whitaker. On February 7, 2013, Jesus spoke to one of his faithful and devoted servant and said, “Brother Bradley Whitaker, my dear worker the last grain of sand of your earthly life of labor has slipped quietly through the hourglass, therefore come from Labor of love to your Reward." Bradley was a resident of Flint and worked at City Hall and for the State of Michigan. Mr. Whitaker married Bertha Jean Henderson and over 20 years they expressed their heartfelt love to each other. Through the guidance of his parents, he learned of Jesus Christ, accepted him and became a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Bradley loved working on his cars and spending quality time with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Bertha Jean Whitaker of Flint; daughter, Erica Caldwell; 3 stepchildren; 3 grandchildren, Eric Mack, Ashley Caldwell and Christopher Whitaker of Flint; parents, Earnest and Margaret Whitaker; 4 sisters, Gloria Jackson-Conley of Rosamond, CA, Earnestine Todd and Helen Carr, both of Flint and Regina Mosley of Farmington, MI; 4 uncles, Lamar Whitaker and Earnest Kelly, Sr., both of Flint; John Kelly of Jackson, MS and J.D. Ratliff of Raymond, MS; a host of nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Micheal Whitaker; 3 stepchildren; grandparents, Bradley and Emma (Ratliff) Kelly; sister, Ethel Marie Whitaker; mother and father-in-law. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of McLaren Flint; Dr. James E. Kennedy and the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church family, Dr. Reginald G. Flynn and the Foss Ave. Baptist Church family and to everyone for all of their love and support.
