JOHNSON, Mr. Booker T., Jr. - Age 75, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, May 4, 2018 at Bristol Road Church of Christ, 1315 W. Bristol Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM., Brother Rigel Dawson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 3:00 PM-8:00 PM with family present to receive friends, from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday. Obituary Brother Booker T. Johnson was born September 19, 1942 in Brownsville, Tennessee to the late Booker Sr. and Amelia Johnson. The Family moved to Decatur, Illinois where Booker graduated from Eisenhower High School. Booker later moved to Flint, Michigan where he joined the workforce at General Motors and was employed until retirement in 1998. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, all sports and was an avid walker (He loved walking in the Crim) before his health began to fail. Booker was joined in Holy Matrimony to Shirley Wilson. Booker T. Johnson was baptized into Christ at an early age and worked in the Kitchen, Usher, and Scripture Ministries at North Central Church of Christ. He later became a member of The Family of Faith Church of Christ. As a person who loved to serve his community, he was active in voter registration, a member of the Democratic Party, UAW Local #651, the NAACP, and volunteered with the Foodbank of Eastern Michigan. Booker T. Johnson departed this life on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at his residence. We loved him, but the Lord was ready for him to rest. Booker leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Shirley Wilson Johnson; two sons, Tyshon Montrice Johnson, both of Flint and Guieskai Caurice Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren, Guieskai, Jr., Karma, Inari and E’ana; two brothers, Leonard William Johnson (Peggy) of Flint Larry Eldridge (Margarette) Johnson of Bloomington, Illinois; sister, Bernice Laverne Smith of Carey, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Carrie (Bruce) Washington of Anderson, South Carolina Wilola (Jeffery) Klein of Charlotte, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Earl (Doris) Wilson of Grove Hill, Alabama Elbert (Ethel) Wilson of Flint; a host of nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Booker was preceded in death by his parents, Booker Sr. and Amelia Johnson; sister, Minnie E. Washington; and brother, Morris E. Johnson. The family of Booker T. Johnson would like to express special thanks to Drs. Peddireddy, Bhrany, and Peram and their staffs.
