HAIRSTON, Mrs. Bobbie - Passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Living Witness Ministries, 2126 Harwine St., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Rev. John Kelly officiating. Pastor Don Kelley-host Pastor. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Hairston will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Bobbie Ray Hairston was born March 14 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Robert and Rosa Stephens, Sr. Bobbie was a resident of Flint since 1951. She was formerly employed at AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors and the Department of Social Services, retiring from the Flint Board of Education. Bobbie was a member of Living Witness Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Don Kelley since 2001, where she served as the Leader of the Prayer Group and Prayer Warriors. Prior to her membership at Living Witness, she was a member in 1993 of Greater Harvest Church, where she played the piano for the praise team. Bobbie also was a former member of The Resurrection Outreach Church, Christ Cathedral and Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Flint. Mrs. Hairston hobbies included playing the piano and arts and crafts. She was always available and diligent when family members and friends called on her for prayer. Mrs. Bobbie Ray Hairston leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Debbie May; son, Maurice Ray (fiance’ Liza), all of San Francisco, CA; granddaughter, Tonisa Sanchez of Brooklawn, NJ; a host of great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Betty (Johnnie) Smith of Flint, Rosetta Logan of Las Vegas, NV and Camilla Smith of Virginia; brother, Grover Stephens; sister-in-law, Earline Stephens, both of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews; cousins, John and Lucy Quinney; goddaughter, Cynthia Smith; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Hairston was preceded in death by husband, Allan “Jack” Hairston; daughter, Maria May; son, Harold May; parents, Robert and Rosa Stephens, Sr.; sister, Maudine Weems; and brothers, Robert, Jr., Curtis Lewis and Jimmy Hayes Stephens. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Don Kelley and the Living Witness Ministries Church family, Mattie Patrick, Irma Pugh, Min. V. Greene, Reola Handy and the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church family.
