Mrs. Birdie E. Trouser

TROUSER, Mrs. Birdie - Age 92, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 at Majestic Care of Flushing. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Alfred Harris Sr., officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Trouser will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mrs. Birdie Trouser was born March 8, 1932, in Damascus, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Mr. Eugene Waters & Mrs. Annabell Waters. Consistent with her love for children and education; Birdie worked in the Flint Community School District as a teacher’s aide for many years. Birdie accepted Christ at an early age in Arkansas, and after moving to Flint, Michigan, she became a member of over 40 years at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Rev. J.C. Curry, where she attended and served faithfully until she became ill. For several years Mrs. Trouser served as the Superintendent of the Children’s Division Sunday School Department, where she enjoyed teaching children about the love of Jesus Christ and helping organize programs. Her favorite program was the annual Sunday School Easter program where the children would recite their Easter speeches, act in plays, and display other talents. She was an active member of the Missionary Society, Benevolence Committee, and helped distribute clothing to those in need. Birdie loved attending the annual Great Lakes District and National Baptist Conventions to praise God and fellowship with others. Birdie also enjoyed fishing, gardening, shopping for herself and others, watching basketball, and cooking. She was an excellent cook and loved to cook big dinners for her family to enjoy. Anybody visiting her knew that they would get a warm meal, and that she never turned anyone away from her dining table. Birdie was an advocate for education, and she invested her time and resources to help anyone interested in learning. Every child that visited her knew that before play time commenced, they had to complete a few pages out of a school workbook and make their way to the basement where “the chalkboard” awaited them filled with mathematical problems and site words. Birdie leaves to cherish her memory: 1 daughter, Loretta Lane; 4 sons, Billie Joe (Karen) Cain, Waverly Trouser, Herman Trouser, and Walter (Connie) Trouser, all of Flint; 16 grandchildren, Vanessa Cain, Teresa Cain, Matthew Cain, Keesha Washington, Angela Cain, Andrea Cain, Shuntaye Smiley-Cain, Castle Jackson, Tameka Burnett, Arien King, Waverly Trouser Jr., Latanya (John) Hobson, Marcus Trouser, Siena Trouser, Walter Trouser Jr. and Elton (Angela) Lane Jr.; a host of step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Birdie’s special friends include, Elder Adelaide Evans, Mrs. Alzora Stokes, Mrs. Constance Welch, Mrs. Ruth Walker, Ms. Arnetha Burke, and loving neighbors, the Morse family. Birdie was preceded in death by her husband of greater than 65 years, Mr. Hurley “Perch” Trouser; 1 son, Robert Cain; 1 daughter, Shirley Trouser; parents, Mr. Eugene Waters & Mrs. Annabell Waters; 3 sisters, Glodean Hart, Syvella Crater, Georgia Pat Brown, 5 brothers, Thomas James Waters, Howard Jean Waters, Lonnie Waters, Johnnie Waters, and Ike Waters; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Chrissy, Dr. Sattar, the staff of Majestic Care of Flushing and American House (Lockwood) North of Flint where Birdie resided for the last chapter of her life; the doctors and staff at Heart to Heart Hospice; Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Saints of God Church; Minister Joseph Gaines; Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church; Senior Pastor Solomon Kinloch, Jr., Triumph Church; Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and Gracelawn Cemetery.
