VERDUN-WRIGHT, Mrs. Billie J. - Age 75, passed away in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Family hour 1PM Sunday, October 11, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service at 2PM. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1PM Sunday. Mrs. Verdun-Wright will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may only be viewed from 1PM-2PM Sunday during family hour only. Mrs. Billie June Verdun-Wright was born October 27, 1933 in VerdunVille, Louisiana, the daughter of Rodley and Virginia Etta Verdun. Billie was a resident of Flint, Michigan since 1952. She graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1953 and from Mott College School of Nursing in 1971. Billie was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Riverside Park Congregation of Flint. She retired from Hurley Medical Center in 1992, after 25 years of service. Billie loved nursing and was very active in her faith. She also loved to be surrounded by her family, grand and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Billie June Verdun-Wright leaves to cherish her memory: children, Kymberli Wright of Detroit MI, Deborah Wallace of Yonkers, NY, Melton (Carolyn) Wright of Flint, MI and Paul (Laura) Wright of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Shaun Wright of Washington, DC, Marinda Wright of Southfield, MI, Quintina Swanson of Flint, MI, Anthony Wallace, Christopher Wallace, Joshua Wallace of Yonkers, NY, Leslie Wright, Brooklyn Wright, Caleb Wright, Quinton Pugh, Sierra Wright, all of Flint, MI, Cheldon Gant of Charlotte, NC and Lonnie Dunn of Grand Blanc, MI; great-grandchildren, Treazure Wright, Quinton Pugh Jr., Robert Sanders, Lakesha Conway, Kiara Krieger and Dre'lin Williams; sister, Jean (Charles) Smith; brothers, Willard (Sue) Verdun of Ovid, MI, Lionel (Sandra) Verdun, Rodley Verdun, Rudolph Verdun, Paul (Louise) Verdun, Andrew (Margret) Verdun, Anthony (Susan) Verdun, all of Flint, MI and Bruce Allen Verdun of Dayton, OH; mother-in-law, Janie Wright of Flint, MI; son-in-law, Stanley Wallace; sisters-in-law, Sheila (James) Sanders and Veronica Nickens; brother-in-law, Melton Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Minnie Welch, Lorraine Deshong, Gwen Burnette and family and friends at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Mrs. Verdun-Wright was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Wright; parents, Rodley and Etta Verdun; sisters, Theresa Ann Verdun and Catherine Russell; brothers, Roy and Edward Verdun, Norman Hamilton-Verdun; step-son Michael Goldsmith; and nephew, Edward "Eddie" Smith.
