JOHNSON, Mrs. Billie Jean - Age 51, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m., Pastor Donald Fuggerson officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Billie Jean Johnson was born May 24, 1959 in Jackson, Mississippi, the daughter of Paul and Edna Earl Marshall. Billie Jean came to Flint, Michigan in the 60’s. She later attended Beecher High School and graduated “Class of 1977”. Jean was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to go fishing with her grandchildren, traveling and spoiling her baby girl, Monisha Aswell, as well as her grandbabies. Her favorite color was red. Jean also enjoyed the NBA Team L.A. Lakers. She was well known in the community, as well as known for turning the other cheek. Jean was one of God’s most thoughtful and forgiving creatures. Mrs. Billie Jean Johnson leaves to cherish her memory: husband, William G. Johnson of Flint, MI; daughter, Monisha Shannon; 4 stepchildren, Alfonzo Turner II, Kneetrae Turner, both of Detroit, Derrick Wilson and William Torns, both of Flint; 5 grandchildren, Samuel Shannon, Markayla Moore, both of Flint, Johnathan Moore, Chavell McCarter and Alphonso Turner III, all of Detroit, MI; 4 sisters, Deborah Ann Marshall, Paulette Thornton, Rosemary (Jimmie) Peterson and Estella Mitchell; brother, Theotis (Angela) Marshall; 6 nieces, LaTonya Lewis, Sherita Johnson, Paula Thornton, Shaqunda Peterson, Khadijah and Corvina Marshall; 2 nephews, Mr. Cornelius Shannon and Mr. Larry Thornton, Jr.; a host of cousins; 2 sisters-in-law, Beverly Taylor and Evelyn Martin, all of Flint; 3 brothers-in-law, Herbert Colen, Andre Morris and Larry Thornton, all of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including, son-in-law, Mr. Johnathon Moore of Flint; special friends, Mr. Alphonso Turner and Mr. Lincoln Mitchell, both of Flint. Mrs. Billie Jean Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Edna Earl Marshall; sister, Jesse Shannon; brother, James Shannon; and grandparents, Felix and Cary May Shannon.
