Mrs. Beverly Jean Baker

BAKER, Mrs. Beverly Jean - age 57, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Baker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Beverly Jean Baker was born March 21, 1957 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Jimmy and Tessie Sherman. She attended Flint Community Schools and graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1975. As a resident of Flint she worked for General Motors for 31 years and retired in 2009. Although Beverly enjoyed the peacefulness of being retired, she became a member of the Red Hatters, Hasselbring Senior Hustle Dance Class and Carman Ainsworth Senior Dance Class. Beverly was a “Diva” all the way from her flamboyant style to her personality. She loved to shop, which could be seen in the way she dressed. She also loved traveling, dancing, walking, Facebook and music. Beverly was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved being around her friends and family. Beverly also loved the Lord. She was a current member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Beverly J. Baker leaves to cherish her memory; 2 sons, Quincy (Kizzy) Sherman and Corey Baker; 8 grandchildren, Tiyana, Tyler, Kristy, Kelly, Ja’Corey, Tiaris, Cameron and Haniya; ex-husband, Gordon Baker; a host of nieces and nephews; aunt, Helen of Chicago, IL; 2 uncles, Paul of Chicago, IL and Panky of Joliet, IL; 3 sisters-in-law, Pearlie Ward, Barnledo Bryson and Josephine Randall; brother-in-law, Alphonso Baker Jr. all of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Sharon, Karen, Roslyn, Charlotte, Dorothy, Hyatt and Mrs. Bell. Mrs. Baker proceeded in death by parents, Jimmy and Tessie Sherman; mother-in-law, Barnledo Baker; father-in-law, Alphonso Baker; sister-in-law, Jeraldine Goodwin; brother-in-law, Cornelius Baker. The family would like to express special thanks to family and friends of Beverly Baker, Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart and the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church.
