SWINTON, Mrs. Bettye Marion - Age 70, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at Henry Ford Hospital-Detroit, MI. Family hour 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Eliezer Church of the Apostolic Faith, 523 E. Hamilton Ave., with funeral service commencing at 3:30 PM Bishop Raymond Dunlap officiating. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Christian Faith Tabernacle, 2826 US Highway 79 N, Brownsville, TN 38012, with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM. Interment Harris Grove Cemetery, Alamo, TN. Mrs. Bettye Marion Johnson-Swinton was born August 18, 1946 in Alamo, Tennessee. She was the third oldest child born to Mr. Hal Johnson Sr. and Mrs. Hattie Walker-Johnson. She received her education at Central High School in Alamo, Tennessee after graduating from high school, she later moved to Flint, Michigan in 1972. Mrs. Swinton retired from Flint Assembly Truck and Bus after 33 dedicated years of service. She was a member of UAW Local #598 where she touched the lives of all that she came in contact with. Mrs. Swinton was a devoted member of Eliezer Church of the Apostolic Faith in Flint, Michigan. There she served in the Kitchen and with the Missionaries. She loved Gospel music and could often be found singing and dancing in her living room. Mrs. Swinton loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Swinton had the most giving heart and infectious personality, illuminating love and a light everywhere she went. Mrs. Bettye Marion Johnson-Swinton leaves precious memories that are shared by a loving family: children, 2 daughters, Tammy Johnson of Grand Blanc, MI and Kim (Darrell Sr.) Bailey of Mt. Pleasant, MI; god-daughter, Robin (Johnathan) West of Ledge, MI; grandchildren, Marquise (Tanesha) Watson, Marquisha Robinson, Jessica Bailey, Darrell Bailey Jr., and Shania Watson; great-grandchildren, Marquise Watson, Mia Watson, Jacob Watson, Mya Watson, McKenzie Newell, Jonathan McNair and Makayla Robinson; sisters, Faye (Arthur) Smith, Martha Moore, all of Flint, Donna (Tony) Johnson, Rozelle Johnson, all of Maury City, TN, Alma Brown of Trenton, TN, Fenner Sanders of Alamo, TN, Doris (Andre) Parram of Bolivar, TN, and Hazel Humphrey of Gates, TN; brothers, Jimmie Ray Johnson, Billy (Betty) Johnson, Floyd Johnson, all of Flint, Ronnie Johnson, Will (Brenda) Johnson, David (Janice) Johnson, Wayne Johnson and Michael Johnson, all of Alamo, TN; special friends, Mr. Jerome Threlkeld and Kathy Scruggs; a host of other family members and friends. Mrs. Johnson-Swinton was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Swinton; parents, Hal Sr. and Hattie Johnson; sister, Merry A.
