SOUTHALL-JACKSON Mrs. Bettye W. -Age 90, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, in Atlanta, GA. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, August 28, 2025, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Apostle Lonnie Brown, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery., G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:00 AM Thursday. Mrs. Southall-Jackson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Public Viewing will only be held during the family hour. Bettye Southall-Jackson was born December 3rd, 1934, in Birmingham Alabama, the daughter of Ben and Berniece Pressley. Bettye graduated from A. H. Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama and continued her education at Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Georgia where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. She met her first husband, Warren Southall while they were students at Parker High School in choir class. They were married in 1956, and 3 daughters were born. Bettye then married Albert Jackson in 1984, and they divorced sometime after. She retired from Flint Community Schools where she was a Title 1 Pre-K Nurse. Bettye also was employed at Hurley Medical Center. She was a nurse for 50 years. She had 3 major church affiliations, Peace Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia. God’s Tabernacle of Truth Church and Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan. Bettye loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her favorite quote for them was “All of my grandchildren are Smart, Healthy and Intelligent.” Bettye Southall-Jackson leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Karen Southall-Broussard and Valerie Southall of Flint, Michigan, and Alma (James) Brown of Ellenwood, Georgia; grandchildren, Rahjon Southall and Jacquelyn Southall, both of Flint, Michigan, Rahvel Broussard, Sovara Broussard, Rahvaude Broussard and Rahshod Broussard, all of Atlanta, Georgia, Maria (Jason) Palmer, Tia Brown, all of Ellenwood, Georgia and Brandon (Sommer) Brown of Decatur, Georgia. Bettye has 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special Friends, Geneva Hammond, Dr. Melvia Russell, Geraldine Turner and Barbara Spence Bettye was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Majik Broussard; parents, Ben and Berniece Pressley; sisters, Barbara Ellis and Earnestine Bowie; brothers, Wilbert, Purnell, Herman, Ben and Robert Earl Pressley.
