YANKE, Mother Betty G. - Age 71, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Pastor Betty Pressley officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-9506 N. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Mother Yanke will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Wednesday. Mother Betty Gean (Fielder) Yanke was born July 16, 1939 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Clifford and Ardella Fielder. Mother Yanke graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1957.” She received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Mott Community College. Betty started her Christian journey at Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church. She was a faithful member of Amazing Grace Evangelistic Ministries for 17 years, where she served on the Nurses Auxiliary, was a faithful member of the Daughters of Zion Auxiliary and was a Mother of the church. Betty had a loving and giving spirit and it showed in everything she set out to accomplish. She loved cooking, playing pokeno, going to the casino, spending time with her grandchildren, coloring and watching football and basketball games. She also loved to ride around the city with her son while listening to music. Betty was employed at Hurley Medical Center as a Nurse, retiring after 33 years of service. Mother Betty Gean (Fielder) Yanke leaves to cherish her memory: son, Jamila (Danita) Yanke; 3 grandchildren, Nikesha Bell, Jamari Yanke and Dacraeon Vines; 2 brothers, Maurice (Jackie) Fielder, Sharon (Sharon) Fielder; special cousin, Lara Nkume, all of Flint; great aunt, Ms. Bertha Brady; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Mildred Bell, Mrs. Ruth Scott, Ms. Virginia and Apostle Betty Pressley. Mother Yanke was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Yanke; parents, Clifford and Ardella Fielder; brother, Marc Fielder; grandparents, Lara and Thomas Brady; and aunts, Bernice Brady and Mabel Grier. The family would like to express special thanks to Sis. Barbara Applewhite, Jackie Fielder, Bonita Alston, Apostle Betty Pressley and the Amazing Grace Evangelistic Ministries family.
