POTTS, Mrs. Bettie Jean - passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Potts willl lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Ms. Bettie Jean Potts was born on November 14, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of the late William Henry “W.H.” Potts and Nannie Lee Potts. Bettie was a graduate of Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores, MI, where she was a member of the Track Team. During her life she was employed at Superior Plastic for 9 years, Genesee Packing, The Renaissance Festival and Day Care Love Away From Home. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and soul mate to James “Patch” Bridges. In fact, she was so devoted to James that to this union there were 8 children born. Bettie enjoyed cooking, cleaning, playing cards, listening to music and being with her grandchildren were her favorite; not to mention, dancing and watching soap operas as well. Bettie was a free spirit person that was down to earth. She kept everyone together. Ask her best friend Sharee “Cakie” Hunter and Tim Davis. Ms. Bettie Jean Potts leaves to cherish her memory: soul mate of 34 years, James Bridges; 10 children, Sherice of Chicago, IL, Jamielle, James, Jamar, Jennifer, Jessica, Jasmine, Jacar, Janice and Jordan; 15 grandchildren, Shaqueia, Monte, Jr., Myleek, Myisha, all of Flint, Jermaine and Jacques, both of Chicago, IL, Patrick, Serenity, Deandric, Devondre, Demeah, Devante’, Demarius, Deshiea and Janasia, all of Flint; 2 sisters, Belinda and Janet; 2 brothers, Vincent and Gregory Potts, all of New York, NY; brother-in-law, Cornel (Sharon) Goy; special aunt, Peggy (Homer) Warren, all of Detroit, MI; 2 uncles, James (Ann) and Charlie Potts, all of Chicago, IL; a host of other relatives and friends including god-daughter, Ja’Niya Simpson. Ms. Potts was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry “W.H.” and Nannie Lee Potts; and sister, Barbara Potts.
