ROGERS, Mrs. Betsy Odessa - Age 85, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Ezra L. Tillman, Jr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Rogers will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Betsy Odessa Rogers was born December 1, 1929 in Clarksville, Tennessee to Charlie and Florence Anderson. She confessed Christ in 1980 and was baptized at Mt .Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Flint, MI by the late Rev. Roy I. Greer. Betsy was a homemaker, a very good seamstress who did a lot of sewing for many people in the Flint area. She loved to draw and do crossword puzzles until her health started to fail. Betsy loved to shop at T J Maxx!! She was a kind, generous and caring person. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie H. Rogers in 1994, her parents, Charlie and Florence Anderson, 3 sisters, Mabel Bowers, Ophelia Tramil, and Geraldine Goodman, 2 brothers, Laddys Anderson and Lawrence Anderson, 1 Grandson, Michael Ricardo Alexander (Rogers), 1 Great-Granddaughter, Krystal Rogers and 1 Great Grandson, Caleb Rogers. Betsy is survived by her 2 sons, Charles Jr. (Darlene) Rogers, and Michael Rogers. 8 Grandchildren: Melissa (Myron) Mitchell, Natalie (Ivan) Lowe, Charles III (Marisol) Rogers, Eric Rogers, Sherdina (Greg) Williams, Terence (Annette) Rogers, Jamille Rogers, and Qiana (Preston) Jones. 19 Great-Grandchildren: Terence Jr. (Shelby), Randall, Asiah, Ivan II, Isaiah, Imani, Aaron, Arianna, Joshua, Mycia, Eric, Eriana, Olivia, Zavier, Taj, Kai, Kiarah, Preston Jr, Zuri. 5 Great-Great Grandchildren: Terence III, Shaya, Julian, Amirah, Colin and 1 sister Mrs. Delora Butler of St. Louis, Missouri. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. We would like to extend a special thanks to her caregiver Melissa Mitchell (granddaughter), Lewis Goodman (nephew), Mrs. Leola and Teretha Wallace, and The Medical Team HOSPICE staff, Amy, Keisha and Joe for all of their support.
