WILLIAMS, Mrs. Bessie Ruth - Age 68, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2008 at her residence. Family hour 12Noon Monday, September 22, 2008 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1PM, Bishop Odis A. Floyd officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12Noon Monday. Mrs. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Sunday. On September 14, 2008 the soul of Bessie Ruth Williams proceeded home to glory. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Rush and Bessie Arnold Short on August 2, 1940. In the 1960s, Bessie relocated to Flint, MI in search of opportunities for the family. As Bessie was a spiritual woman, she was an active member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church offering a helping hand wherever she could. The Lord blessed Bessie with the talent of creativity. During the latter years of her life she was inspired to start her own business, “Ruth’s Creations”. This entrepreneurial opportunity enabled Bessie to share her talents of knitting, sewing, and designing floral arrangements. Her self-employment allotted her even more time to spend with family and friends. She always enjoyed watching her grandchildren mature and supporting friends and family through milestones in their life. Mrs. Bessie Ruth Williams leaves to cherish her memory former spouse, James Williams; loving children, Pamela (Ronald) Jamison and Michael (Jacqueline) Williams; grandchildren, Antoinette Short of Lansing, MI, Shaquandra Jamison of California, Zsilas Hughes of Arkansas, Jasmine Jamison, Domonick and Monique Williams all of Flint; sister, Lillian Terrel of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Bessie Short; cousins, Hattie (Robert) McKay of Tennessee, Perry (Linda) Gardner of Mt. Morris; extended family, Michelle Williams, Angie Grant, Zacchaeus Grant, Zitivon Hughes, Zimorien Hughes, Tiffany Robinson, Scotty Jones, James Jones, Rayshell Lewis, Tiffany Green & Dominique Green; special niece, Michelle (Scrapp) Short; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Donald Johnson and Min. Wilma Jean (George) Smith. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Short 2007; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Rush and Bessie (Arnold) Short; grandmother, Addie (Horton) Arnold; brothers, Walter Lewis, Charlie Floyd Short, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Honeywood, Eva Thompson, Mildred Murphy and Luella Shipp; nephews, Charlie Short, Jr. 2008, Alvin Tunstall, Dana Short and Ellis Nixon; nieces, Debra and Myra Honeywood.
