Bertha Boone

BOONE, Mrs. Bertha - Age 76, passed away Friday, March 11, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 12:30PM Friday March 18, 2005 at First Union Baptist Church, 7004 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1PM. Pastor Archie Powell, Jr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:30PM Saturday. Mrs. Bertha Boone will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12noon-8pm Thursday. Mrs. Bertha Mae Boone was born November 1, 1928 in Edmonson, Arkansas, the daughter of Joe and Mattie Bell McVay. Mrs. Boone was a resident of the City of Flint, Michigan. Mrs. Boone completed her schooling in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon moving to Flint she became a member of First Union Baptist Church under the guidance and leadership of the late Revered Archie Powell, Sr. Mrs. Boone was a faithful member of her church where she served on the Willing Workers Board and a member of the Senior Choir. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, and spending time with her family. In her earlier years she was a gifted beautician. Mrs. Boone will be sorely missed by her children and everyone she met and came to know throughout the years. Mrs. Bertha Mae Boone leaves to cherish her memory; 6 daughters, Barbara J. Norman, Linda A. Boutte, Terry (Alonzo) Love, Sandra R. Boone, Tanisha L. Boone and Chloria "Princess" Boone; 2 sons, Raymond (Candace) Boone and Clifford (Sandra) Boone all of Flint, MI; 15 grandchildren, Carla, Yolanda, Cecil L., Corey Norman, Lisa (Ricky) Westmoreland of Stockton, CA, Shalita and Gregory Boutte, Jr. of Saginaw, MI, LaShonte', Sharonda and Diondra Boone, Terrell Tate, India Boone, C. Dujuan Boone and Alex and Austin Love, all of Flint, MI; 14 great grandchildren, Shampane and Tyrone Boutte of Saginaw, MI, Raquisha McQueen Boone, Ale'yah, Zye'hr, Aleysia and Clifton Charleston, Little Corey, Korrion, Shania and Moriah, all of Flint, MI, Genesis Reed of Detroit, MI, Whitney Westmoreland of CA, Nashaia Merriwether; many nieces; great nieces, many nephews and great nephews; many cousins, 4 sisters-in-law; and 4 brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mrs. Mildred Gates and family, Mrs. Elizabeth Brown and family; goddaughter, Annette Marks; and the entire First Union Baptist Church family. Mrs. Boone was preceded in death by her husband; Mr. Thomas L. Boone, Sr., 2 daughters, Brenda J. Boone and Deborah Boone-Bankston; 2 sons, Billy Ray Boone and Thomas L. Boone Jr.; parents; 5 sisters; and 5 brothers.
