Mrs. Bernice Crawford

CRAWFORD, Mrs. Bernice - Age 91, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital- Ann Arbor, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, October 29, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor George Wilkinson officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Friday. Mrs. Crawford will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed during the family hour only. Here we have gathered in memory of Bernice Crawford, so that we may, together, perform one final duty of love. Bernice Crawford was born June 5, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Edith and Brunson Jackson, both preceded her in death as has her husband, Arthur Crawford. Bernice married Arthur and bore him five children; she began raising her five children on her own at age 23. All of whom graduated from high school and all attended college. Bernice returned to evening school to complete her GED. Yvonne, her oldest daughter, passed away in 2001;Teresa her youngest, passed in August of 2020; Audrey, her second youngest daughter, passed away on October 1, 2021; Arthur, her second son, is presently confined to a hospital bed in Ann Arbor, MI as a Covid patient; Marvin, her oldest son is retired and has been her Home Care Provider since 2018. After retiring from Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan, she moved to Hannibal, Missouri to care for her father. She returned to Ypsilanti, Michigan when her father passed away. Bernice became a Foster Grandmother, babysat many of her grandchildren and provided her residence to her adult children as they “transitioned” from one city to another seeking better financial employment. Not only was Bernice a GOOD Mother, but also a GOOD Woman and friend to the many who knew her. Mrs. Bernice Crawford leaves behind to cherish her memory: her two sons, a large community of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Today we mourn her; tomorrow, we will miss her. We ALL loved her.
