Mr. Benny Albert Motley

MOTLEY, Mr. Benny Albert - Age 79, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Thursday, February 13, 2025 at New Creations Church of God, 3472 Lennon Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Mark Staton, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Thursday. Mr. Motley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Benny Albert Motley went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2025. His journey began on August 22, 1945 in Clanton, Alabama, the son of John and Arlela Motley. Benny accepted Christ at an early age and remained faithful until the day he passed. He moved to Flint, Michigan in the mid-sixties, where he met his wife Daisy Lee Reaves and they wed on May 25, 1968. From this union, two children were born. Benny was employed at Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant, a division of General Motors Corporation for 42 years. He loved participating on the softball and bowling leagues. Benny retired in 2006 and became an active member of the George Washington Carver/Leo Crow VFW Post #8236 where he devoted most of his time. During the summers, Benny would share the harvest from his local community garden where he planted vegetables each spring. He also believe in giving back. Benny donated time monthly to the Center of Hope by making sandwiches, packing goods, and feeding the homeless. He always enjoyed donating to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, as this was his favorite charity that he felt did the most good for the people it served. Benny Albert Motley leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 57 years, Daisy Lee Motley of Burton, MI; son, Kacey Motley of Homer Glen, IL; 3 brothers, Samuel Motley, Walter Louis Motley of Clanton, AL and Dennis (Gwenda) Motley of Hopkinsville, KY; 4 sisters, Margie Young of Millbrook, AL, Annie Jean (Wilbur) Banks of DeSoto, TX, Ola Wilson of Clanton, AL and Gwendolyn Gibbons of Millbrook, AL; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Benny was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Motley; parents, John and Arlela Motley; sister, Lela M. Koger; brothers, Theoplis Motley, John N. Motley Jr., Colonel Jackson Motley and Charles Hayes Motley; sisters-in-law, Lillie Motley and Genobia Motley; borthers-in-law, Leo Koger, Jerry Wilson and Nathaniel Gibbons. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor A. Mark A. Staton II and the New Creation Church of God family.
