Mr. Bennie Lee Jones

JONES, Mr. Bennie - Age 86, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, December 8, 2023 at Family Baptist Church, 2520 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Bennie Jones was born October 26, 1937 in Meridian, Mississippi, the son of Kennard Jones and Iletha Cotton. Bennie accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and attended Family Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed at General Motors Corporation for 32 years and had many other jobs. Bennie was truly a great provider. He served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War where he received an Honorable Discharge. Bennie loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved dancing, sports, going to the casino and providing boxing training to others. Bennie had a heart of gold and helped many people in his life. He was his wife’s HERO. Mr. Bennie Jones leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife of 31 marital years and 35 years together, Patricia Jones; 7 daughters, Crystal (Darren) Munerlyn, Cynthia (Anthony) Lyons, Colleen (Ronald) Fails, Dashanda Jones, Dameka (King) Walton, Shahanna Thorns, all of Flint and Sharise Nelson Texas; 4 sons, Charles E. Jones, Demarko (Lana) Jones, Omar (Tonya) Hull and Tywan Curtis; 3 brothers, Curtis Jones, all of Flint, Larry Jones and Kennard Jones; 2 sisters, Lorraine Crowell and Juanita Kelly, all of Cleveland, OH; 3 sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Walter) Glover, Brenda Hunter and Angela Jones, all of Flint; 37 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Val Fordham, Tina Fobbs, Betty Johnson, Tyrone Stokes, Pat Jones, Pauline Jones and Home Health Worker, Fanny Ray; mothers of his children, Ilene Robinson and Joyce Jones. Bennie was preceded in death by his son, Carl Jones; grandson, Kayden Jones; mother, Iletha Cotton; father, Kennard Jones; sisters, Iletha Bailey, Vernell Jones and Ilene Jones; brother, Lacey Jones; mother-in-law, Julia Hull; sister-in-law, Lawanda Hull; 3 brothers-in-law, Otis Hull, David Hull, Lawrence Hull and Joe Hunter.
