Mrs. Belinda Avery-Moncrease

AVERY-MONCREASE, Mrs. Belinda - Age 58, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Family Worship Center Church International, 3280 N. Linden Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor James Hodo Jr. officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and family will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Moncrease will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Ms. Belinda Avery-Moncrease was born July 4, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Seamon Robert Sr. and Era Lee (Gibson) Avery. She attended Hyde Park High School. She was employed as a Clerk at Union Station in Chicago and for several years had been employed as an In-Home Caregiver. Ms. Moncrease was a member of Church of Trinity where she served as an Usher. She enjoyed dancing, playing softball and she participated in gymnastics. Ms. Moncrease was a member of the group, “Three Soul Sisters and the One Soul Brother.” Her number one hobby was cooking and creating delicious meals for all to enjoy. Ms. Moncrease was very nurturing to all she came in contact with. She opened her heart and provided active listening to anyone that knocked on her door. Ms. Moncrease was loyal to her family and friends. Ms. Moncrease was known for her two famous sayings: “Don’t say I’m sorry, say I apologize” and “Don’t say goodbye, say see you later.” Ms. Belinda Avery-Moncrease leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Thameetha Avery (Corey) Edwards of McKinney, TX; 3 sons, Michael R. Avery, Laronzo Southall and Rayshawn Southall, all of Flint; god-daughter, Shreka Lewis; special daughter, Tyesha Wilson; grandchildren, Leosha Frazier, Ty’Quan Avery, Michael Avery Jr., Puris Avery, Quashawn Young, Porcha Avery, Myairy Blackmon, Sanora Durio, Keyln Avery, Jordyn Luster, Jasmine Avery, Mariah Young, Ashanti Jones, Rayana Avery, Tyonna Avery, Kennedi Edwards, Rayshawn Avery, Samya Andrews, Isaiah Berry and Ray’mire Avery; great-grandchildren, Tyquan Avery Jr., Aaliyah Avery, Star’Rhianna Avery, Taitum Richardson, Macie Ann Gillespie, unborn (Laronzo Southall Jr.), Sa’Ryah Avery, Royalty Avery, Kaysen Avery and Parker Avery; step-mother, Lucille Avery; 5 sisters, Mary Avery, Brenda Avery, Gale Avery and Jennifer Avery, all of Chicago, IL, Sabrina (David Rogers) Gibson of Arkansas; 2 brothers, George Avery of Dallas, TX and Reggie Avery of Chicago, IL; a host of nephews including special nephews, Jack Avery, Lavelle Lyon, Tremaine Edwards, Timothy Edwards, Dionte Lyon, Jeremy Avery and Courtney Avery; a host of nieces including, Marion Avery of McKinney, TX, Jerrica Avery of Chicago, IL, Eboni Avery-Lewis of Gilbert AR, Aiesha Gipson of Milwaukee, WI and Sonyita Johnson-Teague of Las Vegas, NV; including special nieces, Felicia McCalvin and Venue Nelson; a host of cousins including special cousins, Tuleia Nelson, Magaretia Love, Both of Green Bay, WI, Diane Thomas of Milwaukee, WI, Jacob Love of Green Bay, WI and Jerry Kendall of Memphis, TN; significant other, Ricardo Snow; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Necie Smith, Janice Bell, Shirley Fuller, Marilyn Marshall, Loretta and the Spicer family and the Griffin family of Chicago, IL. Ms. Avery-Moncrease was preceded in death by her parents, Seamon Robert Sr. and Eva Lee Avery; grandparents; 2 brothers, Seamon Avery Jr. and Charles Avery; a host of other relatives. The family would like to thank Pastors Timothy R. & Tanya Stokes, Pastor James & Min. Deitria Hodo and the Family Worship Center Church International family, the staff of Hurly Cardiac ICU, Windy Shephard, Tamar Sawyer, Terrell Leeper and everyone who assisted the family.
