Mrs. Beatrice Sheppard

SHEPPARD, Mrs. Beatrice - age 81, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Heritage Manor. Family hour 10:30am Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., with funeral services at 11am. Elder Aaron X. Marble officiating, Pastor Lewis Randolph, presiding. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:30am Saturday. Mrs. Sheppard will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1pm-8pm Friday, with the family present from 4pm-7pm. Mrs. Beatrice Sheppard was born January 18, 1933 in Tchula, Mississippi, the daughter of Hattie Taylor and Thomas Morgan. The family moved to Flint, Michigan in the 1940’s. She attended Lowell Jr. High School and graduated from Flint Central High School, “Class of 1951.” Beatrice married Lionel Moore, Sr. and to this union 3 children were born, Alyce A. Paige, the late Lionel B. Moore, Sr. and Marsha D. Marble. She worked for Dr. Roy Diggs for over 35 years and volunteered for 8 years with the Foster Grandparents Organization. Mrs. Sheppard was a devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church since her childhood and she loved her pastor. She served on the South Side Circle and Nurses Aid to the Pastor. Mrs. Sheppard faithfully attended Sunday school, Bible study and Sunday services. She loved traveling and went to Spain, Portugal, Italy, China, many Caribbean islands, the Bahamas, all over the United States and a rail trip across Canada. She was an avid reader and historian. Mrs. Beatrice Sheppard leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Alyce (Roy) Paige and Marsha (Ezekiel) Marble, Jr., all of Flint; grandchildren, Lovtrice Jones of Birmingham, AL and Lionel B. Moore Jr., Milo V. Moore, both of California, Keywana (Ohenero) Ajagha of Flint, Elder Aaron X. Marble of Cincinnati, OH, Bruce Jones of California and Jonathan Jones of Lansing, MI; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; best friends, sister-in-law, Betty (Levon) Walker of Flint, Thomasene Mabry of Newburgh, IN, Delores Holbrook, Doris Dill of Ann Arbor, MI and Mabel Robinson; a host of special nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Sheppard was preceded in death by her husbands, Lionel Moore, Sr. and Warfield Sheppard; son, Lionel B. Moore, Sr.; grandson, Elton M. Moore; parents, Hattie Taylor and Thomas Morgan; special cousin, Willie “Bill” Brown; friends, Vivian L. Williams and Maxine Veasley. The family would like to thank the staff of McLaren Hospice, Heritage Manor, Dr. Mousa Mohamed, Dr. Joyce Fahrner, Pastor Lewis Randolph and the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family, Pastor George Wilkinson and the Word of Life Christian Church family, Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr. and the Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church family, Mr. Davis Wright family and the staff of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
