STEIN, Ms. Barbara Ruth - Age 92, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Briarwood Manor. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Southeast Christian Church Apostolic Faith, 4171 Lapeer Rd., Burton, MI., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Elder Kenneth Brown officiating. Entombment, Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Ms. Stein will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Our loved-one was born July 30, 1930 to the beloved parents of Cleophas and Mary Elizabeth Roberts-Temple! The oldest of 4, her siblings were the late Lillian Joyce Scott and Vivinine Wooley (also demised). Two brothers, Reginald Roberts and Anthony (Tony) Roberts (deceased). She was also closely intertwined with her nephews, Kevin Scott, Marlon (Martha) Jeffries, Troy Wooley and cousins, Sandra L. Epps and her sister, the late Jacqueline (Jackie) Dilworth! Moreover, she was the reason many people felt welcome, seen, heard, appreciated, loved and accepted! She firmly endorsed many people—especially family in their endeavors—also galvanizing others to “get on the bandwagon!” When in her presence, a number of folk found her to uphold her end of a conversation without difficulty, because she presented the facts! She also was up to date on current issues! An arm-chair opinion, she gave concrete advice when conversing with others! She not only was serious when talking but had a good sense of humor as well! Dedicated, she was a long retiree from Ternstead Plant! When working, she made history as being the first Black Quality Control Floor Inspector! She also served on the Workers’ Rights Committee! Having an instinct to make good choices, she graduated from Mott Community College, receiving an Associate in Arts Degree! In past times, she enjoyed traveling, covering a lot of territory across the country and abroad! She met along her journey a joyful discovery...music! She was an accomplished piano player & gave of her service faithfully as a pianist at a number of churches in the community & at other events as well! Fashionable, she was creative in dress and enjoyed interior decorating—collecting “birds” was also among her hobbies! Further, she had people skills—being a good neighbor, counselor, friend and was highly regarded and respected by many citizens—and that list barely scratched the surface! Internal strength and calm, she had been tested enormously with sickness/sadness but chose to be the “victor” rather than the “victim.” When she thought of what God had done for her in the past, she moved confidently into the future, knowing that He was a Deliverer! Then, the inevitable happened (as stated)—in the fullness of time, she had met her date with destiny! It was Tuesday, March 7, 2023, around 9:00 in the morning, when she took her last breath and at that moment, her life ebbed away!
