Ms. Barbara Jean Moore

MOORE, Ms. Barbara Jean - Age 75, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Hampton Manor of Burton. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, October 13, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Pastor Doloris Gray Smith, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Friday. Ms. Moore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Barbara Jean Moore was born August 21, 1948 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of James Henry and Ethel (Clark) Moore. Barbara was a resident of Flint and a member of Refuge Temple of Flint, under the leadership of Pastor Seon Thompson. She attended Flint Central High School and Mott College where she studied Skilled Trades. Barbara was employed at General Motors Corporation as a Skilled Trades Instrument Repairer, she was one of the first women to work in Skilled Trades at Buick City Hydramatic. Barbara was a member of UAW Local #599 and was also a member of the Coalition of Local Union Women (CLUW), she was appointed by UAW International as Health & Safety Representative, UAW Committee Member, Unity For Justice Committee Member and UAW Local #599 Picnic Committee Member. She participated in National Labor Rallies in Washington, DC and attended many Walter May Ruther Education Center Conferences in Black Lake, MI. Barbara was featured as “Woman of the Month” in UAW Solidarity Magazine. Barbara loved decorating her home, roller skating in her early years. She was a lover of house plants and making her home cozy and comfortable. Barbara also loved collecting mugs from all over the world, playing Bid Whist and challenging math games on her phone. She was a lover of football, reading novels, online shopping QVC, jewelry, perfume, fishing, the casino, long road trips, she loved fashion and the color purple and was great with calculation. She enjoyed her family and family gatherings. Her favorite saying was “if you are on time, then you are late.” Barbara also loved spending time with her granddaughter, watching football with DeWayne and loved getting her hair cut by Marcus. Mrs. Barbara Jean Moore leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Kendra (DeWayne Sr.) Davis and Syreeta (LaMarcus) Keels; son, Anthony Harrison (Tasha Embry); granddaughter, Morgan Keels of Flint; 6 sisters, Inez Morris of Indianapolis, IN, Janice Womack of Flint, Denice (Henry) Royster, Margene Burkett, all of Grand Blanc, MI, Brenda (Ronald) Pirtle of West Palm Beach, FL and Doloris (Nathaniel) Smith of Grand Blanc, MI; a host of nieces and nephews; aunt, Esther Ross of Flushing, MI; cousins, Mary Clark of Belleville, MI, Charlotte Clark of Mt. Morris, MI, Linda Childess of Millington, MI, Angela Ross, Billy McIntosh, both of Flint, Carolyn McIntosh of Chicago, IL and Freddie Peeler of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Jessie Perry, Nina Lewis, Clementine Wright, Jean Montgomery, Rosalind Harrison, the McCraney family and like daughters, Kaneitha Walker, Tara Sheely, Kanisha and Sheena Harrison and Deltonya Burns. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, John McCraney; and parents, James Henry and Ethel (Clark) Moore.
