Mrs. Avis Munerlyn

MUNERLYN, Mrs. Avis - Age 99, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2014 at Higher Quality of Life Ministries, 5601 N. Saginaw St. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Ronnie Wiggins Host Pastor, Eld. Charles Scroggins officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Munerlyn will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, with family present 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Mrs. Avis (Patterson) Munerlyn was born to Katie and Albert Patterson on January 15, 1915 in Bright Star, Arkansas. She departed this life at her residence on January 20, 2014 five days after she celebrated her 99th birthday. Avis married Davis H. Munerlyn on May 29, 1936 in Bloomburg, TX. Mrs. Munerlyn accepted Christ as an early age. She was an Evangelist; a devoted and active member of Liberty Christian Outreach Ministry. Mrs. Munerlyn retired from AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors after 25 years of service. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to spiritual messages and music. Avis imparted wisdom and knowledge on everyone she met when prompted by the Holy Spirit. Mrs. Avis Munerlyn leaves to cherish her memory: children, Willie Faye Thompson of Mt. Morris, MI and David (Versie) Munerlyn, Jr. of Flint; grandchildren, James Childs, Jr., Geeta Childs, Eric (Crystal) Childs, Jawanza Childs, all of Columbus, OH, Phillip Littlejohn and Frederick (Linda Faye) Littlejohn, all of Mt. Morris, MI Andre (Candace) Tookes and Floyd Dixon, all of Palm Beach, FL, Hugh Dixon of Flint, Tyrone (Cynthia) Littlejohn of Grand Blanc, MI, Angelia (James) Collins, David Munerlyn III, Darren Munerlyn, Tameka Van Buren, all of San Antonio, TX, Teresa (Mark) Barnett of Flint and Donovan Munerlyn of New York City, NY; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Holmes of Venice Beach, CA; son-in-law, James Childs, Sr. of Columbus, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she cherished along with Rev. V.T. Williams of Kingston, Jamaica. Mrs. Munerlyn was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Munerlyn; daughter, Avaree Childs; granddaughter, Patricia Littlejohn; parents, Katie and Albert Patterson; sister, Conegia Holmes; brothers, Argie, Alvin, Henry and Dosey Patterson.
