BURROUGHS-GREEN, Mother Augusta - Age 91, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at McLaren=Flint. Family hour 11:30 AM Friday, August 13, 2021 at St. George Bethel Church of God In Christ, 3801 M.L. King Ave., Pastor James Bowie Sr., Host Pastor and Pastor Robert Smith Jr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:30 AM Friday. Mother Burroughs-Green will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM--6:00 PM Thursday, with family present from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM to receive friends. Mother August Burroughs-Green went from labor to victory on Monday, August 2, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Augusta Pendleton was born June 20, 1930 in Whatley, Alabama, the third of seven children to Clarence and Arretta (Bass) Pendleton. On August 11, 1946, Mother Green was united in marriage to Mac Burroughs. To this union seven children were born. After being married 28 years and 17 years a widow, it was divinely ordained by God that she meet and marry Deacon Roy Charles Green. This union exponentially increased the family dynamic. Mother Green was saved under the leadership of Pastor James Markham at St. James COGIC (Selby Street) in 1961 and baptized in the Holy Ghost at Sunrise Service-Easter Sunday morning of the same year. Mother Green was a willing worker, active in Intercessory Prayer, visiting the sick/shut-in, Kitchen Committee, Usher Board, Choir, YWCC, Home & Foreign Mission, Prayer and Bible Band and Mothers Board. Whatever her hands found to do, she did lovingly. Mother Green was industrious and very resourceful. A maker of quilts, clothing and an excellent cook. Mother August Burroughs-Green leaves to cherish loving memories: daughters, Patricia Marks, Joyce Smith, Diane Burroughs, Marilyn Burroughs-James, Beverly Green, Tonya (Jamal) Ferguson and Cora (Kevin) Harris-Sanders; sons, Roy (Rosalind), Brian (Regina), Michael and Ernest (Tanell) Green; 41 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mother Velma Silk; brother, JC Pendleton; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Pendleton and Ruth E. Burroughs; sisters-in-law, Betty (Charles) Winston, Elizabeth (Lonnie) Williams, Bessie Richardson, Janie Strong and Beatrice Banks; brothers-in-law, Billy Burroughs, James (Victoria) Green, Sherman Green, Columbus Green, Pastor Robert E. Smith Jr. and her New St. James Church family; a host of other relatives and friends. Mother Green was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husbands, daughters, Senora Combs and Linda Williams; sons, Robert Mack Pendleton, Pervis Burroughs and Keith Green; grandson, Sherell Gibbs; great-grandsons, Dante Edmonds and Brian Jones; sister, Mae Nolia Ely and Helen Kimbrough; brothers, James and Ellis Pendleton.
