Audie Murphy

MURPHY, Mr. Audie Lewis - Age 52, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, April 20, 2009 at New Generation Holiness Center Church, 1011 Hammond Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Apostle Ruby Johnson, Senior Pastor officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Mr. Murphy will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 8AM-6PM Sunday. Mr. Audie Lewis Murphy was born February 23, 1957 in Flint, MI, the son of Thomas and Lee B. Murphy. Audie was a resident of Flint and graduated from Flint Northern High School. Mr. Murphy was a member of New Generations Holiness Center Church. He was a lifelong Master Salesman, who specialized in automobile sales for over 30 years. Audie had the ability to establish lifelong relationships with his clientele and serviced them many times throughout his career. He had many interests including; fishing, hunting, cooking and a passion for playing pool. Audie was a fun-loving person, who always had a smile on his face and brought laughter to those around him. He leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Lee B. Murphy of Flint; 2 daughters, Theodora Murphy of Phoenix, AZ and Lashonda Banks of Flint; 5 sons, Audie Brown of Phoenix, AZ, Deshawn (Khalilah) Brown of Flint, Aaron (Lisa) Murphy of Phoenix, AZ, Steven and Joshua Murphy, both of Flint; 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Linda Butler of Flushing, MI and Geraldine Welch of Muskegon, MI; 2 brothers, Frank (Denetria) James of Bristol, TN and Rodney (Alexis) Murphy of Flint Twp; aunt, Trudie (John Henry) Brown of Rockford, IL; 2 uncles, Silas (Sally) Gulley of Sacramento, CA and H.L. Gulley of Los Angeles, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Leonard and Bessie Smith, Rev. Viola Greene and the Soul Purpose Sobriety Club. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Murphy; and brother, Phillip Thomas. The family would like to express special thanks to Don and Patsy Lou Williamson and staff, the entire Hurley Medical Center staff, Apostle Ruby Johnson and the New Generation and Abundant Life Church families, Stacey Coleman, Chris Murphy, the Stewart family, Karen Murphy, the Brown family and Teresa Richardson and family.
