Mr. Aubrey Lee Carter Jr.

CARTER, Mr. Aubrey Lee Jr. - Age 77, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Thursday, May 12, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Rev. Michael Lewis, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 1:30 PM Thursday. Mr. Carter will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Mr. Aubrey L. Carter Jr. was born June 26, 1944 in Caruthersville, Missouri the son of Aubrey and Hazel Carter. He attended school in Missouri graduating from Washington High School. He moved to Detroit, Michigan then eventually to Flint, Michigan where he married his wife Laura of 47 years. Mr. Carter attended Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member on the Senior Usher Board. He worked as a Mechanic at Smitty’s Towing and Service where he retired from. Mr. Carter loved reading the newspaper and magazines and watching westerns. He was a very wise man with a really high IQ. His grandchildren often called him their human Encyclopedia. Mr. Carter loved his family especially his grandchildren. He made sure he saw his grandchildren everyday. Mr. Aubrey L. Carter Jr. leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 47 years, Laura Carter; son, Steven Lewis (Monae) Allen; 6 granddaughters, Danielle, Faith, Gracie, Denise, Naomi, and Nahara; 6 grandsons, Percy Jr. Aubrey, Joshua, Josiah, Bradley and Joseph; 3 great-grandchildren, Aubrielle and Amir Humphries, and Parker Hicks; sisters, Katie Rodgers and Donna (Ivan) Rouser; brother, Harry O. Carter; a host of nieces and nephews including special niece, Monica McGee; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his daughter, Shalonda Carter; son, Shannondoah Young; grandchildren, Shalon and Jeremiah Hicks; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Shalon Hicks and Prince Humphries; parents, Aubrey and Hazel Carter; grandparents, Ernest and Virgie Lofton, and Lucinda Jackson; brothers, Ernest Lofton and Billie Carter; sisters, Bertha Covington and Anita Warren; and special cousins, Jesse Hayes and Frank Reed. The Carter family would like to express a special thank you to the hospice care team and The Gospel Temple church family.
