WASHINGTON, Mr. Arvis "Big Buck" - Age 65, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at River Bend Nursing Home. Family hour 11AM Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Covenant Believers Church International, 2715 N. Averill, with funeral service commencing immediately at 12Noon. Pastor Thomas Dalecke officiating, Pastor Sandra and Leslie Appleberry. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Saturday. Mr. Washington will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday, February 25, 2005. Mr. Washington was a husband, father and friend who enjoyed watching Western movies, skating, bowling, riding his motorcycle across the country, and spending time with family and countless friends. He was also very proud to be one of the founding members of the Flint Eagles Motor Cycle Club. Most Importantly, he enjoyed telling stories and raising his grandchildren. He was born March 20, 1939 in Shelbyville, KY, to J.W. Washington and Corine Williams-Taylor. He was raise in Saginaw, MI by his mother and stepfather, Landon Taylor, Sr. He attended Saginaw Public Schools. He worked for General Motors Truck and Bus Division for 34 1/2 years until his retirement in April of 1994. He was national president of the Eagles Mototrcycle Club of Flint and a member of Local 598. Mr. Washington also was a founding member of the Ninth St. Mennonit Church in Saginaw, later fellowshipping with the Covenant Believers Ministries in Flint. Buck leaves in God's care: a loving and devoted wife, Marquerite (Adams) Washington of Flint; 2 sons, Derrick (Cynthis) Washington of New Orleans, LA, Darryl Washington of Flint, 4 daughters, Danna (Elroy) Robinson of Flint, Denean Washington of Flint, Deanna Washington of Detroit, MI, Debbie Washington of Flint; 7 grandchildren, Deonna (Heidi) Washington of East Lansing, Dominique Washington of New Orleans, Dequindra (Quanda), Darryl, Jr., Derrick, Daurel and Lavonta Washington, all of Flint; six adopted children, Tamara, Terrance, and Timothy of Flint, Todd of CA, Teresa of GA, and Tonya Edwards of oH; 5 god children, Michael and Carlos Scales, Daniel and Paul Dalecke, and thomas Tucker, all of Flint; 3 siblings, Delores Houston, MaryAnn Ezell and Landon Taylor, Jr., all of Saginaw; sisters-in-law, Emily Edwards and Maggie Anderson of Flint, and brother-in-law, William (Shelly) Adams of Flint; aunt, Yvonne Williams of Saginaw. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends including Floyd Mayham of Atlanta, "Snoopy" of Detroit, "Stalker" of Toledo,OH, "Little Buck" of Pontiac, "Railroad", "Tuna", "Babyboogie", and "Coathanger", all of Flint and many more. Mr. Washington was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Washington and Corine Taylor; step-father, Landon Taylor; brother, James Henry Taylor; sister, Joyce Gilmore; father and mother-in-law, Emmitt and Martha Adams; and special friend, "Hawkeye". Special thanks to Dr. Aram Minasian, Hurley Critical Care, Riverbend Critical Care Facility including respiratory therapist, CNAs and nurses. Our dear Buck is with the Lord and may he rest in peace. He will always be in our hearts.
