Arnett Rison

RISON, Mr. Arnett H., Sr. - Age 98, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Fostrian Heartland Heathcare. Family hour 10AM Monday, July 27, 2009 at Vernon Chapel AME Church, 5802 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Ernest J. Garrison, Sr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Monday. Mr. Rison will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Mr. Arnett Horace Rison, Sr., was born October 10, 1910 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of Ernest and Sophia (White) Rison. Arnett accepted Christ at an early age at Warren Chapel AME Church in Pine Bluff, AR, where he was a member of the choir and Usher Board. He united in Holy Matrimony with Rosie Hudson on July 1, 1934 and to this union 11 children were born. In 1946, he moved his family to Flint, Michigan and later that year was employed by Fisher Body Plant #1, a Division of General Motors. Arnett retired in 1974 with 28 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #581. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending and watching many sporting events with his family. Mr. Arnett H. Rison leaves to cherish his memories: 4 daughters, JimElla (Bobby) Willis, Catherine Jones, Merdice Brown (Van) Coleman and Patricia Morrison; 5 sons, Mose Rison, Sr., Ernest (Fay) Rison, Clevester (Ramona) Rison, Webster Rison, Sr. and Robert Rison, all of Flint; 37 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alfredia Rison of Atlanta, GA; a host of other relatives and friends including, Vera B. Rison, Gloria Rison, Bobbie Rison, Patricia Rison, Mary Rison, Forrest Morrison, Charles Jones, Sr. and special buddies, Jackie Blair and Alice Whitley. Mr. Rison was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosie Rison; daughter, Dorothy Rison; son, Arnett Rison, Jr.; granddaughter, Sabrina Willis; grandsons, Victor Willis and Clevester “CJ” Rison, Jr.; great-grandson, Marcello Rison; 2 sisters; and 5 brothers. The family would like to express special thanks to granddaughter and caregiver, Raquel Brown, Dr. Ahmed Arif and staff, Fostrian Heartland Heathcare staff, Hurley Medical Center ER staff and Pastor Ernest J. Garrison, Sr. and the Vernon Chapel AME Church Family.
