Mrs. Arneather Strong

STRONG, Mrs. Arneather - Age 78, passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Strong will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Arneather (Koger) Strong was born April 7, 1937 in Roseville, Alabama, the youngest child of the late Reverend Elmer and Lizzie Ingram Koger. Arneather “Jackie” (Koger) Strong graduated from East End High School in Rogersville, Alabama. She relocated to Flint, Michigan in 1963 and in 1965 she met the love of her life Mr. Albert Strong, they were married in Holy Matrimony on October 4, 1965. She professed Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend A. Robertson and later became a member of House Of Prayer under the leadership of Reverend Kenneth L. Stewart until her homegoing. Arneather enjoyed Church services and was truly a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a hard worker, working at St. Joseph Hospital for over 20+ years. Mrs. Strong loved baking, fishing, reading the Bible, most of all she loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Arneather Strong leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 50 years, Albert Strong; son, Anthony Koger; 3 grandsons, Bryan (Kemisha) Rison, Jr., Teon, Gene; 6 granddaughters, Angelia Victoria Koger, Ashley and Amber Patterson, Kamona, Cameesha and Tameka Mitchell, Rashawn and Laurene Elliott; loving and devoted sister, Lillie B. Hayman; 4 daughters, Denise Giddens of Franklin, TN, Brenda Strong and Melanie Moore, both of Flint, Debra McHenry of Dallas, TX; special nieces, Mary Sanderfer, Shelia P. Hayman, Yakima Givens, Shenea Leeper; nephews, Judge Archie Hayman, Huzzie Watkins and Roy Watkins, Terrace Watkins, Darryl Hayman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ollie (Gloria) Miles, June Miles, Lee Willie (Helen) Hayman, Mable Jean (Melvin) Norwood, Dorothy Merkson, Lela Koger, all of Flint, Lela Koger of Detroit, MI, Willie Mae Martin of Pine Bluff, AR; a host of nieces and nephews; goddaughters, Kim Osborne, Lenora Barney, Wanda Daniels and Patricia Luckett; godsons, Robert (Joyce) Turner, Dea. Ricardo (Sharee) Chew and Woody Hansworth; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Effie Gibbs, Delores Turner, Izzie Mae Payne, Josephine Lawrence, Chris Peyton, Lorena McLaurin, Matt Patrick and Renee Craighead. Mrs. Strong was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwen Rison; parents, Reverend Elmer and Lizzie Koger; 5 brothers and 5 sisters. The family would like to give many thanks to Dr. K.
