Mrs. Arlean Kelly

KELLY, Mrs. Arlean - Age 84, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2016 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Kenneth L. Stewart Host Pastor, Dr. Willie Ray Hill officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Thursday. Mrs. Kelly will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday. Sis. Arlean Kelly was born July 1, 1932 the 9th child of Elbert and Carrie Bolden in Lauderdale, Mississippi. Arlean attended Big Creek Community Schools in Raymond, MS and was baptized at Big Creek Baptist Church. Arlean was raised by God fearing parents who taught her the value of Christianity. In 1948, Arlean married Ernest Kelly and to that union 9 children were born. In 1954, Arlean and her family moved from Raymond, MS to Muskegon, MI and then to Flint, Michigan. In 1954, Arlean accepted Christ as her personal savior, under the leadership of Bishop C. L. Morton. In 1955, she joined the Nelson Chapel House of Prayer. She was a dedicated member working in various capacities; Sunday School Teacher, Choir, and Missions Ministry. Sis. Arlean Kelly leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Ernest Kelly, Sr.; 2 daughters, Debra Kelly-Davis and Retia (Steven) Gay all of Flint; 7 sons, Ernest (Dorothy) Kelly, Jr., Charles (Avie) Kelly all of Mt. Morris, MI, Jerome (Wanda) Kelly, Gregory (Tina) Kelly, Sr., all of Flint, Darryl Kelly of Dallas, TX, Ryan (Regina) Kelly of Memphis, TN and Robert (Melinda) Kelly of Flint; 56 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nellie Willis of Flint and Eva (Rufus) Warren of Jackson, MS; 2 brothers, Joe (Minnie) Bolden of Byrum, MS and Ernest Ratliff of Houston, TX; aunt, Lula Thompson of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friend, Joe Davis. Sis. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert Sr. and Carrie Bolden; 5 sisters, Grace Edwards, Pearl Milton, Rose Ann L aury, Addie Payton and Ann Larry; 5 brothers, Edward Bolden, Rudell Bolden, Fletcher Bolden, Elbert Bolden, Jr. and David Bolden; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. The family would like to express special thanks to Esther Vanderson, Linda, the Hill family, Charmaine Vine, Ida, Joe Davis, Robert Jones, McLaren Regional Medical Center 5th & 11th Floor staff , Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart and the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church family.
