Arbedella Elam

ELAM, Ms. Arbedella - Age 50, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10AM Saturday, September 19, 2009 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Bishop Odis A. Floyd officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Ms. Elam will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 Noon-8PM Friday. Ms. Arbedella Elam was born May 18, 1959 in Covington, Tennessee, the daughter of Charles R. and Pearlean Elam. Arbedella was a graduate of Hamady High School and Detroit College of Business. Ms. Elam was a member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, later joining New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Inspirational Voices, Hospitality and Kitchen Committees. She retired from Delphi in 2007 and was a member of UAW Local 651. Ms. Elam volunteered at the New Jerusalem Activity Center. Arbedella loved to dress eloquently, had a beautiful smile, was a people person and was loved by everyone. Ms. Elam enjoyed traveling, shopping, shopping, shopping and spending time with family. She had a special love for her niece and nephews. She leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Pearlean (Edward) Kahee; father, Charles R. (Edna) Elam; 2 sisters, Teresa Pete of Detroit, MI, and Robbie (Elder James) Washington, all of Flint; 3 brothers, Shelby (Rita) Burrell of Memphis, TN, Charles R. Elam and Ray E. Elam, both of Flint; niece, Whitney Morgan Burrell of Memphis, TN; 5 nephews, Winton Burrell of Memphis, TN, Charles Elam III, Dominique Washington, both of Flint, Courtney Elam and DeMonta Washington, both of Flint; 8 aunts, Lillie Dyson of Flint, Katherine (Thomas Lee) Bernard of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Agnes (Charles) Morris of Covington, TN, Mae Francis (Robert) Muex of Flint, Earlene Maben of Covington, TN, Shirley Elam Lee of Nashville, TN, Teresa Elam of Atlanta, GA, Florence (Reginald) Wilkerson of Milwaukee, WI; 9 uncles, Clifford (Florence) Kahee of Stanton Island, NY, Walter (Beverly) Burrell of Beaumont, CA, Thomas (Kay) Burrell of Cordova, TN, Isaac (Bertha) Elam of Flint, Robert (Bert) Elam of Louisville, KY, Willie (Edna) Elam of Nashville, TN, George (Esther) Hill, Charles (Juanita) Hill, Calvin Hill, all of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Gwen Watson of Detroit, MI, Lonette Henderson, Gloria Moses Colen, both of Flint, Ricky Latimore and Etta Henton, both of Detroit, MI.
