CALLUM, Ms. Annie Mae - Age 76, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 3020 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Kevin Thompson officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Ms. Callum will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday. Mother Annie Mae Callum was born August 18, 1941 in Flora, Mississippi, the daughter of Etta Love and O.D. Callum. Annie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1959 and joined St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her brother, the late Rev. Dr. J.S. Hopkins. Mother Callum was a member of the Senior Choir, Mission and the Mothers Board. She attended high school in Flora, MS. Mother Callum retired from Holiday Inn / Days Inn after 38 years of service. Her hobbies were watching “The Haves and Have Nots” and “If Loving You Is Wrong.” She was famous for her Annie Mae Cake & Home Made Ice Cream. Mother Callum was a very nurturing aunt and always said “Love You.” Although Annie never had children she was a Second Mother to Hatty Mae and Daniel L. Hopkins. Mother Annie Mae Callum leaves to cherish her memory: 10 nieces, Elaine (George) Haywood, Arlinda Hopkins, Hatty Hopkins, all of Flint, Diane (Parker) Cooper, Annie (D’Arthor) Mack, Ida Mae (M.C.) Williams, Christella (Calvin) Levy, Linda (Charles) Brown, Etta (Earnest) Marshall and Prophetess Brown; 9 nephews, Rev. John (Grinda) Curtis, Miller (Ethel) Curtis, Johnny (Kimberly) Curtis, Eugene (Christina) Curtis, Michael (Laurise) Curtis, J.W. Thomas, J.B. (Faye) Thomas, William Charles (Vera) Thomas and Oscar Charles, all of Flora, MS; a host of other relatives and friends. Mother Callum was preceded in death by her parents, Etta Love and O.D. Callum; brothers, Rev. Dr. J.S. Hopkins and James Thompson; sisters, Christella Griffin, Lennie Thomas and Everda Curtis. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. P. Sud and the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church family.
