Mrs. Anner Currie

CURRIE, Mrs. Anner - Age 86, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Morris Collins officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home, 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Currie will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Monday. Mrs. Anner Lee Currie was born September 8, 1934 in DeKalb, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Isreal and Cloatee Welch. She attended Winston High School and later married the love of her life, Edward Currie who preceded her in death September 25, 1968. To this union 4 loving children were born. Anner was employed with the Beecher Community School District for many years. Anner faithfully attended Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Morris Collins where she was a member of the Choir. She enjoyed attending church, gardening, cooking, shopping and spending time with her family. Mrs. Anner Lee Currie leaves to cherish her sweet memory: daughter, Carol Currie-Morris; son, Kevin (Francis) Currie, all of Flint; 14 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Russell Welch, Randell (Augustine) Welch, all of Flint and James (Dorothy) Grady of Ocean Springs, MS; sister-in-law, Mary Curry of Flint and Rose Currie of Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Currie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Currie; sons, Jeffrey and Jerome Currie; grandson, Jerome Lancaster; great-granddaughter, Jakeara Threlkeld; parents, Israel and Cloatee Welch; sister, Annie Sue Jackson; sister-in-law, Joyce Welch; brothers-in-law, Arussell Curry and Tommie Currie. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Charles Ellsworth DO, Ascension Genesys Hospital and McLaren-Flint especially Jill from CCU, the 6th Floor and a special thanks to Northland Garden Community.
