MAYS, Mr. Andrew - Age 54, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Holbrook Avenue Church of God, 1034 E. Holbrook Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Leo Robinson officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Mr. Mays will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Andrew Lee Mays was born January 30, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Jessie and Loraine Mays. Andrew graduated from Beecher High School, “Class of 1973”. While attending Beecher, he met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Belinda Rodgers, and they have been together since high school. Mr. Mays was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church as a child. Andrew was a former member of Mt. Morris Township Zoning Board of Appeals. He was employed at General Motors Truck & Bus for 28 years and was a member of UAW Local #598. His hobbies were fishing, basketball, gardening, traveling and especially dancing. Mr. Mays was a confident and outspoken man, whom will be remembered as a successful entrepreneur and proud owner of A and B Hall, a loving husband, father, brother and friend. Mr. Andrew Lee Mays leaves to cherish his memory: soul mate and beloved wife, Belinda A. Mays; 3 daughters, Rackuel (Darnell), Rachelle and Rashonda Mays; 3 grandchildren, Rayonna, Antonio “Doo Doo Ball” Smith and Shana Bray; dear brother, Raymond (Roxie) Reaves; 10 nieces; 8 nephews; 6 aunts; 1 uncle; mother and father-in-law, Evelyn Mckeown and Frazier (Emma) Mckeown; 2 sisters-in-law, Wanda and Donna Mckeown; 2 brothers-in-law, Troy (Mirium) Mckeown and Rickey (Valerie) Mckeown; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Janell Robinson and family, Holbrook Avenue Church of God Church family, Alexandria Sullivan, Jackie Boyce, Jimmie Moore, David Scott, John Tyler, Herman Hughes, Harvey Loper, Wiley Park, Alvin Phillips, Raymond Harris, Mays family, Buddy Walker and the Walker family. Mr. Mays was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Loraine Mays; uncle, Obie D. Mays and brother-in-law, Fredrick Mckeown. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of McLaren Regional Medical Center Hospital, Pastor Leo Robinson and the Holbrook Avenue Church of God Church family.
