HARRIS, Mr. Andrew - Age 93, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Briarwood Nursing Home. Zoom Memorial Service 3:00 PM Saturday, August 28, 2021. Bro. C. Childress officiating. Andrew “Andy” Harris was born July 12, 1928 in Oceola, Arkansas, the son of Myles and Lizzie Harris. Andrew was raised and educated in Luxora, AR and he moved to Flint, Michigan in 1956 seeking employment. He was a member of the United States Army from 1950 to 1954 where he served in the Korean War. Andrew was employed at Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation for 37 years. He was one of Jehovah's Witness for over 16 years in which he loved preaching God’s word, Andrew also loved spending time with family, fishing, hunting and watching his favorite sport, baseball and team “The Detroit Tigers.” Andrew “Andy” Harris leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 63 years, Arbertha; 2 sons, Jerry Harris, both of Flint and Jeffery (Karen) Harris of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 daughters, Sandra (Greg) Taylor of Raleigh, NC, MiChele and LaDonna Harris, both of Flint; 6 grandchildren, Corleu Hathman of Louisville, KY, LaTosha Hopkins of Herndon, VA, Jermar (Olivia) Harris of Centreville, VA, Jequita Harris of Chantilly, VA, Miamor and Michael Harris, both of Grand Blanc, MI; great-grandson, Aiden J. Kemp; 2 nieces, Darlene (William) Bibbs of Chicago, IL and Ada Ross of Belleville, IL; 2 nephews, Roy Lee McKinney of Tacoma, WA and Jimmy Ross of Belleville, IL; special cousins, Liz Baker of Flint, Pearl Young of Mt. Morris, MI and Ola Mae Hudson of St. Louis, MO; sisters-in-law, Helen Washington and Dernice Douglas, both of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends. Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Myles and Lizzie Harris; brother, Joseph Harris; sisters, Rosalee Aleen and Willie Mae Harris; special aunts, Helen Amos and Eva Archie; niece, Faye Ivory; nephew, Bernard Ross; and cousin, Margaret Hamilton. The family would like to express special thanks to the Kearsley and Woodlawn Park Congregations, Davita Burton Dialysis, Dr. Syed Sattar, Dr. Sayed Osama, Heartland Briarwood Nursing Home, Grace Hospice and the Delia Street family. The family would like to also extend a special thanks to Mary Lymon.
