RICHARD, Mr. Andre - Age 64, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Thursday, December 22, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Rev. Thomas Murray, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 1:30 PM Thursday. Mr. Richard will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday with family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm to receive friends. Mr. Andre Richard was born June 10, 1958 at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan, the 4th child born to the union of Glenn and Mary Dean Richard. His momma’s pride and joy, she got her bouncing baby boy. Andre was raised as a Jehovah Witness and later converted to Christianity and accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized. He was a member of Vermont Christian Church under Pastor Thomas Murray, now Pastor of ATOP in Memphis, Tennessee and Renewed Faith under Pastor Al Williams. Andre knew the word of God and would talk to anyone who would listen. He had a calling on his life and continued to run from it. Andre was an avid barber who started cutting hair as soon as he could hold the clippers. He attended Flint Community Schools and graduated from Flint Northern High School “Home of the Vikings”, “Class of 1976” with honors. He loved all sports but was known as “Hawkeye Shine” for his basketball skills. Following graduation from high school, Andre was employed briefly by AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation. He realized that was not his calling, and later became an employee of the Flint Community School System for 25 years as a Janitorial Engineer. He also perfected refinishing hardwood floors and loved the outcome. Andre was a good cook and everyone who enjoyed his cooking can testify that the cooking was good. To meet him was to know him, he never met a stranger and Andre would give you the shirt off his back. He was always trying to lend a helping hand. Once he met you and talked with you he remembered everything about you and your family. To know him was to love him. Andre always told his mother-in-law he loved her after every conversation and they not only shared her daughter but they loved watching Western television shows especially “Gunsmoke.” He loved listening to “My Soul Is Anchored in the Lord” on a daily basis, somehow that song would always come on the radio whenever he was driving. He grew up with friends on Spencer St., Buick St and Pasadena Ave, and special friend, Edward “Monty” Taylor. Mr. Andre Richard leaves to cherish sweet memories: wife of 25 years, Angela Hamlett-Richard. Just celebrated 25th Wedding Anniversary by going on a Mexican Riviera Cruise to Cabo San Lucas, Matzalan and Puerto Vallarta on a Carnival Cruise December 3-11, 2022. 2 daughters, Nakia (David) Odom of Lansing, MI and Andre’a Latrice Richard; 3 sons, Gejuan Ronell Campbell, both of Flint, Nicholas Hamlett of Los Angeles, CA and Alondon Cordell Richard of Auburn Hills, MI; 6 grandchildren, Raven Odom, Joshua Odom and Jacob Odom, all of Lansing, MI, Aubrey Lynn Richard, Kennedy Matthew Clay and Alonna Rose Richard, all of Auburn Hills, MI; grandmother 102 year old, Ophelia Dixon of Flint; 3 sisters-in-law, Lynne (Alvin) Calloway of Flushing, MI, Evelyn Hamlett of Grand Blanc, MI and Derlin D. Hamlett; 8 nieces, Shirley Travis, Miracle Gilbert, Kaylon Hamlett, Dasia Hamlett, Daslyn Hamlett, Marian Leverette, Janie Grayen and special niece, Tojuana (Derrick) Jones; 13 nephews, Marc Leverette, Derrick Jones Jr., Tyjuan Jones, Javont’e Jourdan, DeAndre Richard, Devon Travis, Malaci Travis, Marcus Richard, DeAndr’e Richard, DaJuan Hamlett, Reginald Mason, Jacolby Hamlett, and Carl Jones; mother-in-law, Mildred Grigsby of Flushing, MI; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; a host of friends including special friends, Edward “Monty” Taylor, Donald Durrett, Billy Anthony and Dr. Brian Bhagat. Mr. Andre Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary Dean Richard; father-in-law, Edward Hamlett; sister, Jacqueline Richard; brothers-in-law, Karl Hamlett and Edward Hamlett Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Thomas Murray of ATOP Ministries of Memphis, TN, Pastor Al Williams, Pastor Kevin Thompson, Pastor David Odom, Lawrence E.
