MORRIS, Mr. Andre "Doc" - Age 44, made his transition from this life to his heavenly home, Friday, December 23, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 2nd Chance Church, 1950 Burr Ave., with funeral service commencing immediately at 1 p.m. Pastor Derrick Aldridge officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Morris will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday with family present from 2-4 p.m. Mr. Andre “Doc” Morris was born January 27, 1967 to Jofus and Cleopatre Morris in Flint, Michigan. Andre attended Flint Community Schools and was a graduate of Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1985.” He was a skillful basketball player and was part of the 1983-84 Flint Northwestern State Championship Team, that was inducted into the Greater Flint Hall of Fame. In January of 1991, Andre married Eula Blake in Lapeer, Michigan. They were married for 19 years. He was a faithful member of 2nd Chance Church. Andre enjoyed spending time and playing with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, whom they affectionately called “Papa Doc” and “Unkie Dunkie.” Andre was certified in Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer, Building Analyst Professional, and Envelope Professional through the Building Performance Institute, Inc. He was employed at Hill Road Hoops as a basketball official. Mr. Andre “Doc” Morris leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Akeeya Gardin; grandchildren, KeAzia Peterson and Aubree Coleman; mother of his daughter, Angela Gardin; sister, Yvonne (Brian) Morris-Matthew; brothers, Kevin (Teressa) Morris and Larry (Doretha Bell) Morris; nieces and nephews, DeWayn (Kristina) Allen, Leneice Proby, Ryan Morris, Janaye Morris, Kevin Morris II, Alandra Bell, Brian Matthew II, Jaslyn Morris, Javonna Morris, Steven Cooley, Kristine (John) Love, Laurie Cooley, Sharlene Cooley and Teri Cooley; great nieces and nephews, DeWayn Allen II, KaMea Allen, Terrance Sealey Jr, Zaria Sealey, Amyah Woodyard, , Kevin Morris III, Jamon Jones, and Kristian Allen; god brother, David (Dana) Bush; and a host of other relatives and friends including special friend Bethany Green. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by parents Jofus and Cleopatre Morris and great nephew Christopher Allen. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor and Sister Derrick Aldridge and the entire 2nd Chance Church Family.
