AIKINS, Ms. Amyre L. - Age 23, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Min. Fred Jones, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Ms. Aikins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 3-8 p.m. Friday. Ms. Amyre “Granma” Leigh Aikins was born February 24, 1988 in Flint, Michigan. The daughter of Tommy Key and Linna Aikins. Amyre attended Flint Northern High School and The University of Michigan-Flint. She worked at Miller Road Applebee’s and was a member and hard worker of Young Life, where she participated for four years. Amyre enjoyed laughing, joking and was known for her colorful head wraps, her smile, and one of a kind personality. She was a very influential part of every life she touched. She leaves to cherish her memory: significant other, Carolyn Parrish; mother, Linna Aikins; father, Tommy (Davina) Key; step-father, Christopher Love; twin sister, Amia Leigh Aikins; seven brothers, An’Tion Aikins, Devin Smith, Tommy Smith, Dominique Key, De’Brice Aikins, De’Blaire Aikins, and Tristin Key; god sisters, Michelle (Verlin) Turner, Shiday Nelson, Robin Person, Suzette Lee, ShaCura Boyd, Juliette Hillsman, Julia Hillsman, and Marcetta Dukes; god brothers, Jamar Lewis, Yori McCoy, Julian Hillsman, Marrell Dukes, and Marcellus Dukes; two aunts, Patricia (Micheal) Callihan and Sharida Moore; uncle, Leslie Aikins; four nephews; she was loved by her God mothers, Denise Dukes, Connie Lee and Lorrie Walton; a host of other relatives and family friends, including her Applebee’s buddies. Ms. Aikins was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ami and Archie Moore; and great grandmother, Inell “Madea” Holland. The family would like to express special thanks to Grand Blanc Police Department, First Apostolic Church of Flint and Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.
