HICKS, Master Alvin Donnell Jr. - Age 16, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 12:00 PM Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Living Word Church of God, 6325 Calkins Rd, with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:00 PM Wednesday. Master Hicks will lie in state in the Chapel Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM- 6:00 PM Tuesday. Mr. Alvin Donell Hicks Jr. “Al” was born August 12, 2004 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Debra S. Wood and Alvin Hicks Sr. Al was a Junior at Academy West and an active member of The Rock Church. He enjoyed playing his video game, playing with his younger siblings and nephews. Al loved dogs just like his dad. He also loved going to the mall to buy new clothes (drip). Al had and infectious smile and he was loved by everyone who knew him. He had an extremely close knit circle of friends and it wasn’t uncommon for him to covertly move one of his friends in for the summer. Al made an impact on everyone he met. He is going to be sincerely missed. Mr. Alvin Donell Hicks Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Debra Saisheen Wood; grandparents, Regina Wood, Cathy Fant and William Hawkins; 6 sisters, Shanquaya Hicks, Tashyra Hicks, Salea Silver, Laila Wood, all of Flint, Ta’Lesha Hicks of North Carolina and Aisha Hunter; 2 brothers, Alvin Marzell Hicks and De’Aire Hicks; 3 nephews, Albert Lee Jr., Paul Giles Jr. and Zel Washington; 4 aunts, Roslyn Hicks, Cassandra Dukes, Keela Dukes and Latoya Anderson; 5 uncles, Lorendao Wood Sr., Samuel Wood Sr., Garner Wood Sr., Jason Miller and Terrance Hicks-Hardy, all of Flint; a host of cousins including, special cousin/brother, Samuel Wood Jr.; a host of relatives and friends including special friends, Susie Lewis and Jaryn Turner. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Donell Hicks Sr.; grandfathers, Ellis Anderson and Clarence Hardy; great-grandmothers, Rena Strong and Helen Wilson; great-grandfathers, Henry Strong and Clarence Hardy; and brother, Saylea Silver Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Academy West High School, The Rock Church family, Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1991”, The Flint Lear Corp., friends and family for all of the endless texts, calls, visits and prayers.
