WOODSON-BEY, Mrs. Alma - Age 95, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Rose Arbor Hospice - Kalamazoo, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Omar Brown-El officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Woodson-Bey will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Alma Woodson-Bey was born in 1919 in Flint, MI the daughter of Antionio D. Kirkland and Ruby L. Kirkland Pitner-Bey. She was the eldest of four siblings, Antionio D. Kirkland, Mary E. Kirkland-Muse, and William Kirkland. She was educated in the Flint Public School System. Alma met and later married Oscar B. Woodson-Bey in 1938. To this union three children were born: Gerri Jean, Maurice (Ernestine), and Marvin (Thelma). She was a member of the Moorish Science Temple of America INc #19, Flint, MI. Alma served in many capacities such as Sectretary and Chairman of Sister’s Auxilliary. Mrs. Alma Woodson-Bey leaves to cherish her memory: son, Marvin; 8 grandchildren, Tangyla and Greg, Maurice and Cammie, Monkur, J’Nairo and Tiombe, DeMarria, Sabrina and Fitz Roberts, Rahim, Tarik and Margaret; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 2 daughters-in-law, Ernestine and Thelma; nieces and nephews; Carolyn, Garry, Louise, Alma and Sal Mustafa, Naaeem and Donna, the Black family: Ruby, Rosemary, Robert and Connie, Dorothy, Joyce, Michael and Mavis, Mark, Juana, Quintin, Brent and Ada;a host of aunts, cousins, many other relatives and friends including Anna L. Campbell and Ira McDonald. She was preceded in death by husband, Oscar; daughter, Gerri Jean; son, Maurice; mother, Ruby Pitner-Bey, grandmother, Frances Smith-El; sister, Mary E.; brothers, Antionio and William; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all of you whom have aided and offered your assistance through this arduous journey. Yours prayers, counseling and love is greatly appreciated.
