Alma Fisher

FISHER, Mrs. Alma Ree - Age 65, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 12:30PM Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S Center Rd, with funeral service commencing at 1PM, Minister Victor Johnson officiating, Pastor Urundi Knox, host pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:30PM Saturday. Mrs. Fisher will lie in state and may be viewed Saturday at the church during the family hour only. Our beloved angel lost her battle to a long-term illness. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Mrs. Alma Ree (Branch) Fisher was born in Benton Harbor, MI on February 9, 1943, the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Moon) Branch. Alma was a resident of the Grand Blanc area for over 30 years. She accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, MI. In 1988 she joined Ebenezer Ministries where she was actively involved in several ministries including, Sunday School Teaching, Deaconess Board, Trustee Board, President of the Choir, and Mistress of Ceremony of many programs and events. Alma attended Benton Harbor Public Schools. Upon graduation she decided to further her education at Western Michigan University, where she was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha and served as its President for two years. She also served as Assistant Director and staff assistant in two residence halls. Alma was active in the French Club and dormitory house council functions. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at WMU in 1964. The following year she received her Masters Degree at WMU. She furthered her studies at Eastern Michigan University receiving a special Education certification. The Flint Community Schools employed her for 37 years as a Home Bound Hospitalized teacher, teacher consultant for special education, and POHI teacher at Durant Turri Mott. Alma immersed herself in her profession where she had a genuine love for students, staff, and community alike. The only thing that surpassed her passion for teaching was the love she had for God, family, and church. Surviving are: loving husband of 42 years, Clifford of Grand Blanc; two children, Cortney Fisher and Cory (Leigha) Fisher; two adorable grandchildren, Morgan "MoeMoe" Fisher and Ellianna "Elly Belly" Fisher, all of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 sisters-in-law, Edwennia Fisher of Beecher, Irene Sherman of Flint and Geneve Lytle of Omaha, NE; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Fisher is preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Pastor Urundi Knox and Ebenezer Ministries, friends, family, and the staff at Genesys Health Park.
