(McCoy) KEMP, Mrs. Allene Sarah - Age 88, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, at Argentine Care Center, Linden, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Anthony Kemp, officiating., Rev. Dr. Henry Fuller, Host Pastor. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Kemp will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Allene Sarah (McCoy) Kemp was born November 7, 1933 in Lincoln County, North Carolina to the late Clifford and Sarah McCoy. Allene accepted Christ, as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized at an early age. Her parents relocated to Washington, DC and later to Flint, Michigan where Allene attended Flint Public Schools, graduating from Flint Northern in 1951. Allene was joined in holy matrimony with, the love of her life, Isaac Kemp, in 1952. To this, 40-year, union 3 children were born. She was employed by AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation and was a proud member of UAW Local 651, retiring in 1984 after 35 years of service. Allene was a Christian woman, of faith, who loved the Lord and never failed to acknowledge His goodness. She was, a long tenured, member of the Foss Avenue Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Avery Aldridge. She was a devoted member of the Senior Usher Board where she served as Treasurer for many years, an avid member of the Ladies Church Sunday School Class, a regular attendee of the National Baptist Convention U.S.A., Inc., and serve in many other Auxiliaries until her health began to fail. Allene was a ‘classy’ lady in character as well as attire. She loved to shop, read, cook, gardening, crocheting during the winter months, traveling and watching westerns. Most of all she loved to be called “granny” and spending lots of precious and quality time with her grandchildren. They were truly her pride and joy! She was presented with the ‘Grandparent of the Year’ award in 1995 by the Foss Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Allene Sarah (McCoy) Kemp leaves to cherish sweet memories, 2 sons, Isaac Lyncurry and Rev. Anthony Lee (Angela) Kemp of Flint; daughter, Patricia (Gary) Ramsey of New Jersey; 12 grandchildren, LaTanya, Eric “Smooth”, Tamia, Nicole, Qwenpatrick (Brittany), Anthony II, Jonathan (Katriene), Satoria, Isaac, Ashley, Jonah and Micah; 22 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephew; dear friend, Leola Hall; and family friend, Deidre Spight-Woodson, Allene’s hairstylist for over 30 years. Allene was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Kemp; parents, Clifford McCoy and mother Sarah Mackson; brother, Clarence McCoy; niece, Surronie McCoy; and dear and loving friend, Delores Jones.
