Mother Alice "GG", "Love Sweet" Wilson

WILSON, Mother Alice - Age 107, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 2nd Chance Church, 2070 W. Coldwater Rd., Pastor Derrick Aldridge officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mother Wilson will lie in state in the Sanctuary of 2nd Chance Church and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mother Alice Wilson “Love Sweet” was born September 15, 1912 in Minter City, Mississippi, the daughter of Henry and Emma Smith. Alice attended public school and college at Itta Bena Schools in Minter City, MS. Mother made her transition to be with the Lord on September 13, 2020 two days short of her 108th birthday. Mother Wilson married the love of her life, Herbert Wilson in 1931 and to this union 9 children were born. In 1944, Alice and Herbert moved to Michigan where she was a domestic house wife taking on several jobs as a Cook with Uncle Bob’s Dinner, S.S. Kresge and school cafeterias. She was a true Woman of God and Faithful Servant on many auxiliaries, Mother’s and Deaconess Board, and the Missionary Committee. Mother Wilson also sang in the Choir and served in the Kitchen. Mother Wilson joined Foss Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in 1966 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Avery Aldridge and later joining 2nd Chance Church with Pastor Derrick A. Aldridge (son) until her death. Mother loved her church family, her neighbors and anyone who she could help or share life experiences with. Mother Wilson was recognized with several proclamations-and in 2012 she had the honor of receiving an award from President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle. She also received proclamations from the City of Flint since 2012 to present. In 2013, she was honored from Valley of the Aging with a dinner that family and friends shared with her. Mother Alice Wilson “Love Sweet” leaves to cherish her precious memory: daughter, Sherie (Welton) Burrell of Flint; 3 sons, Herbert (Winifred) Wilson of Lawrenceville, GA, Alfred Henry Wilson of Chicago, IL and Dewayne Wilson of Flint; 90 grand and great-grands across five generations, eldest grandson, Ralph Wilson; special niece, Doris Henry, who she helped raise; nephew, James Earl Brown; many other nieces and nephews; a host of self-claimed and loved individuals too many to name. Nonetheless she loved them all as much as her own; special neighbor, Betty Brown of over 50 years, Robin Pleasant and the entire Sally Ct. neighbors; a host of other relatives and special friends, Mrs. Mary Cox, Mildrene Rouser, 2nd Chance Church staff, Mother’s Ministry and the entire church family. Mother Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wilson; 4 daughters, Earnestine Clark, Emma Jean McCloud, Dorothy Lois Williams and Armetine Mabry; granddaughter, Valerie McGhee; 2 great-grandsons, Ralph Wilson Jr. and Spenser Wilson. The family would like to express special thanks to Kindred Hospice Care (Dee), Dr. Perez Pascual and her pastor and son, Pastor Derrick A. Aldridge.
