Mrs. Alice Mae Polite

POLITE, Mrs. Alice Mae - Age 77, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Polite will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Mrs. Alice Polite was born October 11, 1942 in McCool Mississippi. She was the daughter of L.D. and Masree Hannah. She later moved to Flint, Michigan with her late husband the Elder Osborn Lee Polite Jr., where she resided until her transition. Mrs. Polite attended Greater New Bethel Church Of God In Christ (COGIC) for over 20 years. She would often sing sermonic selections under the leadership of Pastor Brian Grundy. Mrs. Polite enjoyed watching her soap operas, wrestling, and basketball. She also enjoyed going to bingo and to the casino. Mrs. Polite was a world-renowned cook and baker in her own right. She loved cooking from scratch. Some of her favorite dishes to make were Soul Food, Peach Cobbler, Banana Pudding, German chocolate cake and her famous Pound Cake. Mrs. Polite was truly a jazzy lady. She enjoyed shopping, manicures, pedicures, and getting her hair done. Mrs. Polite would often be overheard telling people (including complete strangers), “Hey, look at my hair, now look at my nails,” all while doing a happy shimmy type dance. Alice knew how to make people laugh. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was truly a gem. Mrs. Alice Polite leaves to cherish her precious memories: 2 daughters, Daphne (Ricky) Evans of Flint and Takeeshe Polite of Lansing, MI, 2 sons, Osborn (Rocio) Polite III of Juarez Mexico and Cedric (Cherise) Polite Sr. of Flint; 2 sisters, Carlean McPherson of Detroit, MI and Mae Wright of Mississippi; 13 grandchildren, Yolanda Polite, Alize’ Robinson, Cedric Polite Jr., Ostiva Polite, China Polite, all of Flint, Victoria Payne of Houston, TX, Ezekiel Polite of Savannah, GA, Derrick Polite, Jackie Polite, and Osborn Lee Polite IV, all of Juarez, Mexico, Micah Shields, Alysse Polite, and Grace Carr, all of Lansing, MI; 10 great-grandchildren; 7 nieces; 7 nephews; aunt, Medaris (James) Hannah of Chicago, IL; special friends, Mo. Ruthel Dickerson, Jewel McConell, Rene Dickson, Janine Henderson and a host of others. Mrs. Polite was proceeded in death by her husband, Elder Osborn Polite Jr.; daughter, Jacqueline Polite; parents, L.D. and Masree Hannah; brother, Sherman Hannah.
