KEMP, Mrs. Alice - Age 87 passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Tallahassee, FL. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, August 23, 2025 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church 1035 East Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Lonnie Brown officiating, Pastor AJ Harris, Host Pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday, August 23, 2025. Mrs. Kemp will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed Friday, August 22, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Alice Louise Kemp departed this earthly life on Sunday August 10, 2025 in Tallahassee, Florida. Alice was born on April 23,1938 to Mary Lee Morris in Dumas, Arkansas. She attended school in Dumas until age 14 when the family relocated to Flint, MI. She completed her high school education in the Flint school system and later attended Mott Community College. Alice was married to Clarence Kemp and together they raised their ten children and remained amicable co-parents long after their marriage dissolved. She was a loving mother who attended school functions and sporting events, made kids costumes, and chaperoned field trips. She was not only there for her children but also a mother to the neighborhood kids. Her yard was the spot where the kids dropped their bikes and hung out on the front porch. She would sit in her window and watch the kids play in the park and walk to and from school each day. Alice never met a stranger, she was kind and loving to all who crossed her path and would help in any way that she could. Alice was employed by Chevrolet Assembly and AC Spark Plug a Division of General Motors, where she dedicated 22 years of service, retiring in 1999 to help care for her ailing mother. She was a proud UAW member. Alice was a jack of all trades who would tackle any assignment. She reupholstered her own chairs, and fixed whatever was broken including the clothes dryer, plumbing, the furnace and many broken and abused toys. Alice walked the 5k in the Crim Festival of Races on a few occasions and later worked as a volunteer for the runners at the finish line. She also walked with Jesse Jackson during the Flint water protest. She loved to sing, do crossword and jigsaw puzzles and work in her yard. But her real passion was fishing. She spent many hours on local lakes reeling them in along with her siblings. Alice loved family gatherings. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grands. They were all her best friends and the reason why at 80+ years of age she was tech savvy. Alice could text, add emojis and also search YouTube videos on her TV, and her young people kept her young. Alice dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a long time and beloved member of Kingdom of Heaven Ministries where she served as a mother in the church. Though she no longer attended in person after the COVID-19 pandemic, she listened to her pastor, Lonnie Brown, faithfully every Sunday morning. Alice Louise Kemp is survived by her children, Sandra White of Tallahassee, Florida, Terry (Jevetta) White of Apopka, Florida, Debra Jackson of Grand Blanc, MI, Catherine (Damon) Skinner of West Bloomfield ,MI, Kendrick (Keyta) Kemp of Garner, North Carolina ,Clarence Kemp, David Kemp, Steven (Marjona) Kemp, Tonia Kemp, Carlos (Niyono) Kemp all of Flint, MI. 38 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren. Sisters Beatrice Thompson (Andrew) of Texas, Martha Thomas of Grady, Arkansas, Octavia Ward, Rosie Matthews of Flushing, MI, Nora Cammon, Sharon Wilbon of Flint, MI and brother James (Joyce) White of Clio, MI. and countless nieces, nephews and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her mother Mary (Morris) Cayton, grandmother, Rosie Hubbard, son-in-law David Jackson, brother Willie White, brother in laws Maxcie Thomas, and Perry Wilbon. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to all who devoted their time, skill, love and energy to caring for our mom, sister, granny, and auntie. For every prayer, text, hug, shoulder to cry on, and word of encouragement. We sincerely thank you.
