DANTZLER, Mr. Alfonzo - Age 96, passed away Saturday, March 8,2025, at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 15, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Dantzler will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, with family presence from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Alfonzo Dantzler was born June 17, 1928, in Proctor, Arkansas, the son of Frank and Mary (Harris) Dantzler. Alfonzo was married to Nonetha (Stubbs) Dantzler for 44 years until her death in 1991. Eight Children were born to this union. Alfonzo retired from Fisher Body Plant #1, a division of General Motor and was a member of UAW Local #581. The past two weeks have been a whirlwind - his health declined so suddenly, and none of us saw it coming. It still doesn’t feel real. Alfonzo was a great man - not a perfect one, but one with a heart of gold. At 96 years old, he lived a full life, rich in love, kindness, and generosity. Though he made mistakes along the way, his heart always led him back to what mattered most; his family. Alfonzo was caring, compassionate, and deeply devoted to his family and friends. In his younger years, he was the go-to handyman, always willing to help anyone in need. He had a love for baseball, especially his Detroit Tigers, and found joy in the great outdoors, fishing and hunting whenever he could, along with bowling in his younger years. But more than anything, Alfonzo cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. Family vacations were some of his best times. Alfonzo was a giver, never selfish with what he had. Whether it was his time, his money, or even a place to stay, he opened his heart and home to those in need. He was always willing to drive people wherever they needed to go, run errands, and be a helping hand without hesitation. That was just who he was. Alfonzo was so proud of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He got to see them grow up into educators, a physician, an engineer, a pharmacist, a scientist, managers, a firefighter, authors, tax professional, nurses, real estate agents, professional truck drivers, event decorators, entrepreneurs, franchise owners, and productive members of society. Knowing that he witnessed the fruits of his love and sacrifice bring his family comfort. We can only imagine the moment he stepped through the Pearly Gates, greeted by Jesus and the loved ones who went before him. Mr. Alfonzo Dantzler leaves to cherish his memory: 5 daughters, Barbara (Kenneth) Nesbitt, Deborah Harris, Valerie Humphries, all of Flint, Cheryl (William) Payton of Mt. Morris, MI and Tonya Davis of Flint; 6 sons, Alfonzo Dantzler Jr. of Mt. Morris, MI, Artie Dantzler, Lonnie (Kym) Stubbs, all of Flint, Adrian (Ta’Kasha) Dantzler of Los Angeles, CA, Quentin (Anissa) Branch of Rancho Cardova, CA and Altron Harrison-EL of Clinton Twp., MI; 26 grandchildren, Dr. Kenyetta (Keyotta) Snell, Jason Gooch, Roshawnda (Corey) Allen, Dr. Natasha Nesbitt, Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, Rashad Humphries, Artie Smith, Torrie (Ed) Stanley, Precious (Victor) Miller, Shange Harris, Brittany Scott, Brionna Scott, Bianka Scott, Adrian Dantzler Jr., Amore McConnell, Mario (Alyssa) Harris, Altron Harrison Jr., Kiara Stubbs, Philip Payton, Destiny Davis, Quania Branch, Quamonté Branch, Donavan Branch, Toya Gooch-Garrett, Aaliah Hill and Chris Hill; 30 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Young; god-sons, Herbert Nash and Reginald Brass; a host of nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives too many to mention; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Irene Williams and family, Baker Street family; special nephews, Theron Young and William Hawkins; and special niece, Ava (Sterling) Murry. Alfonzo was preceded in death by his wife, Nonetha Dantzler; parents, Frank and Mary Dantzler; daughter, MaryLee Stubbs; grandsons, Alfonzo Curry, Richard Humphries II and Montana Gooch; daughter-in-law, Rosie Dantzler; 2 mothers-in-law; 2 fathers-in-law; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; 6 brothers-in-law; 8 sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend.
