JORDAN, Mrs. Alberta - Age 96, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 424 E. Kennelworth Ave., with funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Major A. Stewart, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Jordan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Alberta was born January 11, 1914, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama the daughter of James Roy Thompson, Sr. and Mattie (Washington) Thompson. Alberta was united in marriage to Frederick Jordan, Sr in 1932. To this union three children were born, Frederick Jordan, Jr., William Jordan, and Brenda Jordan Dilworth. She received her Junior College Degree from Stillman Institute on May 29, 1940. They lived in Tuscaloosa, Alabama until becoming residence of Flint on July 2, 1940. She was employed by General Motors A.C. Spark Plug for 27.5 years retiring in 1971. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church since 1940. She was the secretary for the Ada Berry Bible Class, secretary and treasurer for the Friendship Club, and church clerk. Her favorite time in her life was when she was spending time with her family. Mrs. Alberta Jordan leaves to cherish her memory: 2 children, daughter, Brenda Dilworth of Flint, MI and son, William Jordan of San Francisco, CA; beloved granddaughter Kimberly Dilworth of East Amherst, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including special niece Joyce King and family; and The Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church family. She was preceded in death by husband Frederick Jordan, Sr., son Frederick Jordan, Jr., parents James and Mattie, brothers James Roy Thompson Jr, Robert Thompson, and sister Bertha Mae Wilson, sister-in-laws Callie Thompson and Gloria Thompson, and brother-in-law Carter Wilson. The family would like to express special thanks to Kith Haven Nursing Home and Staff, Heartland Hospice Staff and a special thank you to her friends/residents of Kith Haven especially Statha Smith her faithful roommate.
