Mrs. Alberta Alice Haamid

HAAMID, Mrs. Alberta Alice - Age 93, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 1:30 PM Monday, December 13, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral commencing at 2:00 PM. Pastor George Wilkinson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 1:30 PM Monday. Mrs. Haamid will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 PM - 4:00 PM Sunday. Mrs. Alberta A. (Berry) Haamid was born March 26, 1928 in Longacre, West Virginia, the daughter of Alberta and Dearance Keaton. Alberta married her grade school sweetheart, George Haamid on February 21, 1948. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1950. They were married for 71 years until his death in November of 2019. Six children were born to his union. Alberta joined the Nation of Islam in 1957 and was a devoted follower. She was a stay at home mom and had home cooked meals everyday. Alberta was a great baker, so we had dessert everyday as well. Our father had a sweet tooth. She was known for her delicious Bean Pies. Alberta loved to shop at local thrift stores and would buy things in case someone needed something. If you needed an iron, coffee maker, mixer or a punch bowl, you could fined it at mom’s house and it was yours. Mrs. Alberta A. Haamid leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters and 2 sons, Ronald Berry of Texas, Carolyn (Ronald) Hudson, Delois (Leonard) Neely and George (Doretta) Berry, all of Flint; grandchildren, Anthony Peaters of Arizona, Carlton White, Jaberta Cochran, both of Flint, Erica (Tony) Ruffin of Belleville, MI, Delisa Berry of Flint, Maurice Peaters of Arizona, Derek Peaters, Terrance White, both of Flint, Ronald (Molly) Peaters of Arizona, Jevon (Kenyatta) White of Ohio, Eugene Berry of Flint and Marvin (Vivian) Berry of Texas; 29 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews including several that would call her often, Pat, Demetrice, Jackie, Greg, Renee and especially Samantha; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, Mary Ellen Shamsideen. Mrs. Haamid was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Haamid; daughter, Virginia Henry; son, Timothy Berry; parents, Alberta and Dearance Keaton; sisters, Virginia Robinson, Elizabeth Mitchell and Gloria Hamlin; brother, Dearance Keaton Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Ronald Hudson who put a smile on her face everyday for the last year. Bringing her flowers, donuts or just a candy bar. She loved being special.
