Mr. Albert Johnson Jr. (Al's Clean-up Shop)

JOHNSON, Mr. Albert Jr. - Age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Fostrian Manor. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM with family present to receive friends from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM. Mr. Albert Johnson Jr., beloved husband, father, brother and friend fell asleep in death on January 8, 2019. Albert was born in Hayti, Missouri on March 20, 1933 the son of Cora Williams and Albert Johnson Sr. Albert who was affectionately called “Al” by his family and friends, received his primary education from the Hayti Public School System. He left Hayti and settled in Michigan, where he remained until his passing. Al had the opportunity to be employed by several local reconditioning establishments. In 1966, he was blessed and fortunate to start his own business, which he named “Al’s Clean Up Shop”; it was the pride of his life. He ran a successful business for over 49 years and was proud of the fact that he never had to advertise, because all his success came from “Word of Mouth”. He took pride in insuring that every customer was satisfied. His business remained open until the spring of 2015, when his health would no longer allow him to continue working. “Al’s Clean Up Shop” was “The Place” that many family and friends stopped by to share stories. Since Al was an avid fisherman, many stories were about fishing and there was always the story about “the Big One that got away”. Al lived a grateful and satisfying life. He accomplished many things in life, and would always say, it was because it was done “My Way”. Mr. Albert Johnson Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Jessie Ivory Johnson; 2 daughters, Veronica Hester and Tammy (Michael) Cummings; 5 grandchildren, Shaurice Hester of San Antonio, TX, Maurice Hester, Sha´Quita Johnson, Sha´Dae Johnson, all of Flint and TaMia Cummings of Daytona Beach, FL; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, James Johnson of Hayti, MO and Fingal Johnson of Coldwater, MI; a host of nieces and nephews including, Jaqueline Edwards of Flint, Diane and Louise Luster of Hayti, MO; favorite nephew, Christopher Kent Johnson of Flint; sister-in-law, Mary Johnson of Hayti, MO; the unforgettable, precious and attentive, longtime neighbors, including their children and grandchildren of Orange Blossom Drive, with special emphasis on “His Girl”, Zaharia (Nay) Mitchell and special friend, Barbara Rudolf of Griffin, GA. Al was preceded in death by his son, Albert Johnson III; brothers, Early, David, Roy and Louis Johnson; 3 sisters, Caldonia Edwards, Verlene Luster and Lucille Collins; god-son, Chester Ward; brother from another mother, Eddie Owens; and mother of his children, Lurlene Johnson.
