HARE, Pastor Albert William - Age 77, made his Heavenly transition Friday, January 1, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Henry L. Fuller, Sr., Host Pastor. Pastor Oscar Hare, officiating Rev. Gregory Hare, presiding. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Pastor Hare will lie in state at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Public Viewing will take place from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at The Cross Missionary Baptist Church, 3063 W. Coldwater Rd., with a Memorial Service taking place from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Pastor Albert William Hare was born on September 16, 1938, to the late Cleveland Sr. and Masusie (Nickerson) Hare in Scooba, Mississippi. Pastor Hare accepted Christ at an early age. The family subsequently moved to Sikeston, Missouri before Pastor Hare settled in Flint, Michigan. Pastor Hare married his late wife, Ann (Turner) Hare on February 1, 1964 and the marriage lasted 49 ½ years until her death on October 4, 2013. Pastor Hare was a resident of the Beecher District where his late wife and five children graduated from Beecher High School. Pastor Hare was employed at Chevrolet Manufacturing, a division of General Motors, and retired after 35 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 598. Pastor Hare attended Canaan Missionary Baptist Church before accepting his call to preach the gospel at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. Dr. Alfred L.C. Robbs on January 17, 1971. He was a part of “The Sons of Christ Fellowship” and continued his Christian Education through The Community School of the Bible located in Gilead Baptist Church, Flint, Michigan, and United Theological Seminary (UTS) facilitated at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Flint, Michigan, where he graduated. Pastor Hare served as District Missionary through the Great Lakes Baptist District Association preaching at various churches and filling in for pastors in their absence from the pulpit. He joined Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Booker T. Anderson and served faithfully as an Associate Minister serving in various auxiliaries including a major building project that later was instrumental in his calling from God to build a church as well. After briefly renewing his membership at Christ Fellowship, Pastor Hare organized The Cross Missionary Baptist Church in 1978. Many souls were saved and 11 sons in the ministry served under Pastor Hare of which some accepted their calling at The Cross. Pastor Hare was led by the Holy Spirit to build a new church in 1994 where The Cross Missionary Baptist Church is currently located with a mortgage burning during his tenure as pastor. He served as pastor of The Cross until his health would not allow him to continue and affectionately accepted his role as Senior Pastor after the installation of Rev. Oscar Hare, the current pastor. He was known as a “no nonsense” pastor but still found time to sing one of his favorite songs: “I feel good, good, good, every time I think about Jesus, makes me feel good!” Pastor Albert William Hare leaves to cherish his memories: 5 sons, Alvin Hare, Effic Hare, Reverend Gregory (Marsha) Hare, Pastor Oscar Hare, and Reverend Titus (Julie) Hare, all of Flint; one daughter, Veronica Hare of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jenaro (Joy), Jamel, Elizabeth, Jerry, Avante’, Stephanie, Justin, Duralle, Jalin, Silas, and Seth; a host of great grandchildren, one brother, Bonnie (Ruthie) Hare, 2 sisters, Luebirdia and Virginia, all of Flint; nieces, nephews, great nieces; great nephews, other relatives and friends. Pastor Hare was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Hare; parents; 4 brothers, Tommie, John Lee, Cleveland and Jake; 2 sisters, Lorenia, and Pearlie May.
